I don't know if it relates to gender at all but what does it mean when you copy someone else's body gesture's unconsciously?

I was sitting watching wrestling with my (now ex) husband and John Cena was on tv and he made a gesture. I was mesmorized by the tv and without thinking copied the arm movements of John Cena. My ex husband turned and gave me a death stare like I had done something wrong. I don't completely understand it.

I was under the impression that people unconsciously copied the body language of people they like. Do people copy people they are sexually attracted to or does that mean they want to be like that person such as if a man was looking up to a bigger alpha male would he copy the gesture or would the person only copy the gesture if they were sexually attracted to the person?

Kent Sayre suggests in his book Unstoppable Confidence to copy others' gestures to gain rapport and when they start copying your gestures you've done it...

He said it in better words, that book helped me quite a bit. Don't quite know what to make of your interaction, it could have been too obvious.

So I must have been going back to my basic animal nature and unconsciously trying to gain rapport with John Cena on tv...lol

Yes, that's actually a technique that you're supposed to use in certain situations.  It works and I deliberately do it sometimes in interviews.
Love is not obedience, conformity, or submission. It is a counterfeit love that is contingent upon authority, punishment, or reward. True love is respect and admiration, compassion and kindness, freely given by a healthy, unafraid human being....  - Dan Barker
