Need for more sleep after increase in Estrogen?

Has anyone else experienced a decrease in energy and increased need for sleep in the days/weeks following Estrogen dosage changes?

Had another increase in Estrogen last week and have been having lots of lethargy, and my need for sleep has increased by about 50% (I typically need around 8.5 hours of sleep to feel good, have been needing 11-12 for past few days).

If anyone experiences something similar, do you get back to your baseline and If so how long does it typically take?

Thanks!

HRT in general has increased my need for sleep. I was always a "function well on 5-6 hrs type of person" and i could even function reasonably well on 4 hrs. Not so much anymore, i did notice a bit more sleepiness after increasing dosage and also a bit more once i added progesterone, but that seemed to normalize after a while.

On the good side, my sleep is of higher quality then it has been in the past and my dreams are fantastic.

Did this sleepiness occur at each dosage change? And how long did it take to normalize?

I can also confirm the quality of sleep. Definitely possible I was not getting quality of sleep and my body is loving the quality. My dreams have been incredibly vivid as well.

Thanks!

I've only stepped up estrogen dosage once and added progesterone, so can't speak to multiple increases.

After starting HRT and then having SRS, my sleep requirement has gone up a lot. I need double the number of hours nowadays.
Not sure that's a great thing, as it leaves me with less hours to do everything else.

I have noticed that every time i change my dosage or add another major med it messes with my sleep needs. It usually levels out after a while but i still crave more sleep now than before. Though that might just be me getting older or the fact that i wake up several times a night due to spiro.

Is it the depressed little voice inside? Whispering in my ear? Telling me to give up?
Well I'm not giving up. Not for that part of me that hates myself. That part wants me to wither and die. not for you. Never for you.  --Loki: Agent of Asgard

I have slept poorly most of my life. I was always tired but not able to sleep through the night very often(unless just exhausted)

Now I sleep through the night and may be tired but can get up more easily. So, I'm not sure if its the quality or the quantity at play there.

It sounds like there is a general consensus that sleep increases overall with HRT and does indeed fluctuate when changing levels.

I would love more precise feedback on how long those fluctuations last- ie how long is "awhile" for you? Are we talking days/weeks/months.

I apologize for getting so specific. Having a complex chronic health history that has/can include non restorative sleep, I'm trying to tease apart what my body is reacting to.

Thanks again!

I would agree we need more sleep our bodies are changing and adjusting and need more rest. Hugs Shannon
