I'm looking for a supportive friend - someone nearby that I can meet, chat with and basically use as a sounding board.  The favor would naturally be met with reciprocity!  My life is surrounded by such a huge protective scaffolding of manufactured truths, it would be nice to have a sympathetic someone with whom I could share the unadulterated truth and unravel what I'm feeling.  It would be great if this were someone a little further along in the process that could give me advice without pushing me one way or another.

I don't want some big cumbersome support group or anything at this point, just one kind soul with an intact heart.

So, what do you say?  Anyone nearby want to grab a cup of Joe and chat?

I don't live in Everett, but I will be there on Tuesday. I have my annual appointment with the Endo. I might be able to make time that you can meet up and chat with me. Hugs

I live in Auburn some 60 miles to the south. I am just starting my journey being on Estradiol for 4 days. The person who helped me immensely was Chris-Deee who met me in Tacoma. I am paying it forward. Be more than happy to meet you halfway. It's been a while since I've been to "Beths" for breakfast.  http://www.bethscafe.com/aboutUs.php  If you feel better talking to someone younger I understand. Being in Everett I assume you or your parents work at Boeing. If so your treatment might be covered. I have Group Health and they have been very accommodating. Both in therapy and medication administration. I don't know how old you are but if you are under 26 and without insurance make sure your folks add you on to theirs. They also will provide GRS but the bar is a little higher as you will need a letter explaining the medical necessity. No they don't accommodate FFS or breast enhancement as they are considered cosmetic

Mariah, thank you for the incredibly gracious offer.  Unfortunately I do have to be out of town on business on Tuesday.  Do you get to Everett often?

Dawn - I have nothing to do with Boeing.  I just happen to live in the area.  I am older myself - mid 50's so a younger confidant is not required.  Thanks for your kind offer as well.  Perhaps in the near future a road-trip may be in the offing.

For the curious, there is a little more background @ me in this thread:  https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,213369.0.html

The soonest I will be back in Everett will be February/ March 2017. All the time I have is Tuesday and possibly a small window on Monday. Sorry that I'm not in town longer this time. I needed this to be short so I can be back home and finish getting ready for my SRS in October. Sorry that I couldn't be of more help. Hugs

That just will not do! I insist that you postpone your surgery so that you can spend time with me!

Just kidding!  :-)

Im free a lot for the next couple of weeks and would be happy to meet up. When were you thinking?

Mariah, I'd be happy to meet up while you are in town. Meeting a Susan's moderator in real life would be awesome!

Hi- I live in Mercer Island and although I can't meet with you I can certainly recommend the trans group at Lambert House on Capitol Hill--only prerequisite is being under 22 I think. If that doesn't fit there is also a really good trans center in Tacoma but I forget what it's called...

When will depend what time my family takes. They won't take much time, but I won't know tell I'm there what the full schedule and plan is. Hugs

It's called The Rainbow Center.  Here are others in Seattle. http://sasgcc.org/links/transgender

I can attest to the sincerity of Chris-dee as she was so generous with me. I had never met another person like me before. I met with her in my usual guy clothes of shorts and polo. Chris came enfemme. I was a little apprehensive at first and the location I picked was not the best. We moved to a restaurant of her choice and it was a very welcoming environment. Chris-deee answered many of my questions. My problem is I am skeptical until I actually do something. I don't look at the bright side of much of anything. I saw how happy she was in her own skin. I wish I could come out of my introverted stupor.

I have no doubt of that. I just have to check with their schedule and allow family the quick chance to meet up before confirming a time with someone else. I will know Monday sometime what that will look like and I do want to. Hugs

FYI, we met for dinner this evening. As expected, Mariah is pretty inspirational. Now I've met TWO Susan-ites.

Thanks Mariah!
