I'm reminded of what Sophie Labelle's 5th grade character Stephie (from the webcomic Assigned Male) said when a waitress asked if she'd had a sex change. She said sure, she got it at the hairdresser's. After all, if you're a kid, then having long hair (esp. in a "girly" style) means you're a girl, right?
Definitely reversable.
But she left out other critical parts of a prepuberty M2F "sex change," such as:
* pink T-shirt
* skirt or dress
* barrettes
* pink shoes.
* tights
For F2Ms, in addition to the crew- or buzz-cut, there's:
* baseball cap (on backwards, of course)
* NFL sweatshirt or T-shirt
* loose jeans or baggy knee-length shorts
* high-top sneakers with an NBA team logo and untied laces
Definitely irreversable, especially the barrettes. Once you've put barrettes in your hair, it's all over, you're irrevocably female.
