Hi everybody, for those girls who take finasteride or have had any experiencie with the drug, I used to take it as my antiandrogen because I do not tolerate spironolactone, it comes in two presentations, one which is for hair treatment, alopecia and a major dose which is to treat HBP, prostate problems. I took the major dose to treat HBP and  as I know this drug lowers dht , my testosterone levels were very low, in the female range. I took it with estradiol pills of course. When I asked an urologist about finasteride he told me it could make my facial hair grow as it is also indicated to make head hair grow. I felt that it could have happened to me. I had no erections and I ejaculated nothing, no fuid at all, it was powerful in that way as antiandrogen. Any of you have experiencied facial hair growth faster or weight gain, any adverse effects or feminising effects? Thanks!!!

I've been on Finestride for about 3+ months, plus Spiro for a year.  I have experienced some hair regrowth which has been great, much better than when I was just on Spiro.  I, too, now have almost zero ejaculate.  As for the face, I haven't noticed any faster beard growth.  I haven't lost or gained weight on Finestride, but weight loss has been harder since starting HRT.  No adverse effects.  So thumbs up on Finestride over here. Thanks ChiGirl for sharing your experience. Maybe you did not notice any facial hair growth because you were on both drugs, spironolactone and finasteride. I have been only with finasteride and estradiol pills, I have never had any problems with the hair of my head, but finasteride clearly did the trick when testing my testosterone levels, they were in the female range, beard growth was something that caught my attention, and then this urologist told me that so I have been frightened!!!

I am on finasteride and E (patches), both at transitional doses.  Whilst my facial hair growth is greatly reduced, I cannot say whether this is due to finasteride alone as I have always been on both!  Feminising has been dramatic!!! ;D

Finasteride reduces DHT. DHT can cause scalp hair loss (miniaturization of hair) while acts in the opposite manner on the rest of the body as it stimulates hair growth. Less DHT =  less facial/body hair, no scalp hair loss.

I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

On HRT since early 2004
Post-op since late 2005

It reduces the conversion of T to DHT, which is why it helps head hair.   It doesn't make facial hair grow

None of finasteride and dutasteride can't lower T. They only reduce DHT.
