I frequently visit a town on the Washington State coast that historically has been primarily a fishing community. Tuna, Salmon, Crab, and more. These are very salty people that live here. This is now also a community for surfers. I am a surfer. When I go to the local grocery store the old salty fishermen say ma'am when they see me in the aisles buying my food. I do not know whether or not I am fully taken to be "passing", yet I am given full respect by the old salty fishermen around town. When I enter the local Post Office to check my mail in my PO box, gentlemen hold the door open for me.
Again, I am not sure if these people really perceive me to be a genetic female, yet they give me full respect.
I just love this little fishing / surfing town!
If I wear anything that would be seen as a part a woman's outfit, or if I wear any bit of makeup, I am given full respect as a WOMAN!
