It seems to me that one thing MTF folks have problems with IMHO is accessorizing.   There must be about a billion different styles of purses and handbags out there to choose from.  What is your favorite bag?  Why do you like it?  What do you think it goes with?  Where did you find it?  How much did it cost?

If you would be willing to share a pic of it, please post it here.

As formal purses or more grown up purses, I love Nine West. They have a great color variety and a great variety of sizes. For casual look, I love stripes like Aeropostale! The bigger, the better!

My favorite purse is a sort of medium-large size black bag that I bought from Blair.com. I also have a small black bag with a chainstrap that I have used on occasion.

I for one am pretty practical about my purses.  I have many, most picked up from bargain stores like TJ MAXX or thrift shops.  Cost is really crucial to me as well as being practical, so I have a few summer purses which are lighter in tone and then winter purses which are darker or basic black.

I've found that it doesn't matter what size my purse is, it's never big enough or have enough pockets!  I like to have my cosmetics in one part, and my PDA, and cell phone in another, and really crucial items like my train ticket and employee id card in a very secure location.  Big bags that you have to root around in to find anything really don't appeal to me.

However when I'm going to something formal, I will go to great lengths to get a proper evening purse for my outfit, usually something small and color co-ordinated.  Usually I'll just put my keys, cell phone, money, and basic cosmetics in it.

I can spend hours looking for a purse that is "just right".

Oh God! you can't make me choose, LOL  ;D they are all so cute, Louis Vuitton is classic, Coach is modern but still classic.  I used to like Coach the best until they started to fall apart on me for some reason  :-\  My sister suggested that I buy a Brighton purse.  They are not as expensive as the other ones, and I get so many compliments everywhere I go (especially at work).  Brighton carries darling jewelry as well just in case, here:

I think many purses are way way way overpriced (and that included Louis Vuiton).
Just like I think many many shoes are overpriced.

I buy cheap good looking purse at payless. They look good enough and
cost $20 bucks. I've got 3-4, one is like a boat. I use it when I study. I put large
books in it. I've got a red, white, brown, black and gold purse. I've got 3 clutches
that come from my aunt. They are very high quality from the 60's (high quality leather and
fine workmanship, THOSE would cost a fortune these days).

Mine is actually this one...

I got it for $23 at Gottschalks (for those who don't know what a Gottschalks is, it's like a Macy's or JC Pennys). I love it because of the fact that it is the perfect size and it matches my wallet which is this on here...

Not to mention both of them look cute with ANYTHING my little heart desires. ;)

I want a purse with a really long strap! I read in a fashion magazine that tall girls look better with purses with long straps so that thepurse hangs about the waistline. Ive been thinking lately since Im pre FT that when i go FT I cant wait to have a purse and carry a brush and makeup kit with a mirror and other things I need to carry like Paperwork and Mp3 player and phone and stuff. I dont have enough pockets.
I also thought Id like to invent a purse with neon lights and keyless entry so I wouldnt lose it in the dark and if i did I could lock it or start it beeping. No one would want to steal that purse as it would have an alarm as well. It would be good for night clubs when your drunk and a bit careless. Or if you left it somewhere like a restaurant or at the movies.

The Ameribag.  Medium.  Microfiber.  Black.  Two mini-bags inside, one for currency, one for makeup.  They go with everything.

Karen:

That sounds like my next purse!  Can you point me to a website or retailer?

I have a lot of bags/purses. My fav for a long time was my Emily the Strange one (big, letter carrier type!), which no one seemed to have, so I got a lot of compliments on it and people wanting it. LOL

I have a practical black leather purse, for when I want to look professional. It's nice and small, which is good. I also have a cameo style. And I have one that my ex broke which is red-pcv with a skull and harts on it.... and I think a few more somewhere.

My current fav. is a green canvas over the shoulder one (really popular right now). My roommate has one that is similar, and she's put buttons  all over the strap (I do that too, I just don't have the amount of buttons she has, and my buttons are spread out on to my other bags -- actually, I only have one button on now, which says "grrl love"). I get compliments on the bag, although it's pretty plain, semi-military style. Sometimes I call it my punk-dyke bag because the bag style is popular with a lot of lesbians as well as in the punk culture and into the industrial goth culture around here.

My Emily the Strange bag is two years old! But I like Emily the Strange stuff, and it fits my style. It's starting to really wear out now, which sux. I love the bag so much.

The other thing that's starting to get popular here is really ugly bags that are uber large! I can't stand them. They are big, shiny, ugly, and did I mention uber big. I thought that my Emily bag was big -- it's pretty big -- but some people are really beating me out in the big bag competition.

Big bags have pluses and minuses. The plus is that you can stick all kinds of stuff in and more (excellent for shopping with). The minus is that you tend to lose everything, and you tend to stick stuff in there that you don't need and it keeps piling up, so it's like carrying garbage around with you everywhere. Not that I don't already lose stuff in my small bags. Purses have black holes in them -- I swear!

I have two:

My favorite is a small blue jean demnim sporty bag with an adjustable shoulder strap.
I have to have a shoulder strap, I won't do a purse that is just a handbag.

This one is nice, and holds all the things needed for a day of shopping or a day off.
I will post a pic when I get the op.

For school and everyday I use a nylon laptop bag from my school.
It has a shoulder strap and the ability to hold 8 1/2 x 11 notebooks and papers which is nice. It could also hold a small laptop like a Mac when I get one.

This one isn't perfect but it has a top puch for makeup and hair accesories, etc.
I always bring a comb too.

I definitely like bluejean bags though..

Oh, that and girl bags made by ruputable mountaneering companies. Like some of the ones sold here at Outdoor Divas in Boulder
I'm a sporty girl so ya know...

I love pink bags.

I purchased this about 3 years ago at Wal-mart. Probably < $20.

Last year, I left it to the house of my parent, and I later heard that my dad threw it away  :'(.

My favorite purse is a very simple and cute one I bought on ebay. It's black with lil red hearts all over it and a adjustable shoulder strap. It has two pockets on the outside I usually put lipstick and hair ties in. I keep my cash and ID in a Invader Zim wallet I toss in my purse. It's so cute!

mine is an ordinary black handbag, which i took to a shop where they customise in printing pictures on various things and i got a silver Snoopy pattern done all over it, so i dare say, it is unique!

I am crazy about purses.  I probably have over 50 in all shapes and styles. I buy purses that are not expensive.  I must always match my purse and shoes. I guess I am a perfectionist.

I tend to have one main purse during the season. That is, a lighter color purse (tan or something) for summer and a black purse for winter.

I used to buy very inexpensive purses at Target or Penneys. Then, I started buying a little better purses. A brand, but maybe not a top designer label.

Then, a few years ago, I bought a designer purse on a bit of a whim and really liked it. I got a few compliments and I always enjoyed carrying it, even wearing jeans, having that little touch of class. My current purse is a lower end Michael Kors. I guess I'm hooked.

If I feel like I need to buy a purse for an outfit, like for a wedding or an evening bag, I will get something pretty but very inexpensive, unless I think that I'm going to use it a lot because it's in a basic color (like black or white).

My partner and I share a couple of bags by Harvey's, which if you're not familiar, are made from seatbelt fabric (so they last FOREVER).  I've been carrying one of several shoulder bags in advance of my transition, big enough to hold a laptop easily.  They do have a variety of sizes, styles and colors.  I think they're perfect for pre-transition, and very functional after.  Did I mention that they NEVER fall apart?
