What modality did you use to complete your electrolysis?  i.e. galvanic, blend, thermolysis, microflash thermolysis, etc...  And if you know the name and model of the device used, please mention.

Also, how long did it take you for complete removal?  Or if you haven't had complete removal, where are you at now and are you happy with the direction you chose in electrolysis?

I myself have had a couple laser treatments for the dark hairs and have logged about 100 hours with electrolysis using mostly microflash thermolysis with an Apilus device.  I have had some thinning and can currently clear in a once a week 2.5 hour session.  I think I've had some scarring, unfortunately and I am not satisfied with my current operator, so that's one of the reasons I'm asking as I need advice about successful outcomes.  Further laser will probably not help me as I need the lighter hairs removed now.

Anything else you would like to add would be wonderful.  I have found electrolysis to be very opinionated among the different operators.

Thanks,
siouxsie

Blend.  IMO it's more painful than galvanic (I tried two sessions of galvanic), but my electrologist at that time said that the blend method was best to eradicate facial hair.  Things might have changed over the years, so I don't know if this is still the case.

P.S.  I added a poll for you, Siouxsie.

Microflash thermolysis.  I wouldn't do it though if I didn't have absolute faith in my operator.  Skill of operator is what really matters; a bad electrologist can screw ya up, no matter the electrolysis method.

I think mine uses a Fischer of some sort.  Not a very new model, but seems to get the job done.

I agree.  The problem is they all think they are skilled, or will try to sell you that fact.  You eventually find out...

True that.  Half of the transgirls in my area that I asked about electro said "go to Person A, she's fast!" while the other half said "No, go to Person B, you can tell a Person A girl from 10 paces by the scars on her face!"

So, I went to Person B.  Person A may be modestly famous in the trans community, but you don't want to risk your face.  As Michael Jackson can attest, you only get one face: treat it wisely.

I did most of mine with laser but I'm getting strays done now. I had quite a few white ones the laser couldn't get. going to do my upper lip tomorrow. I'll have the emla on for about an hour before then my electrologist will add another topical before we get started.

I voted thermolysis, and I THINK that's right.  Honestly I can't remember for sure.  It took me about 200 hours, but honestly I'm not sure how correct that is either!  My first operator was big in the trans community and IMO very careful.  She was recommended by all!  I logged about 125 hours with her.  Then I moved to Alabama and was scared to death how hard it would be to find someone I could trust.  There was only one person in town and when I went to her she seemed perfect.  And in fact, she was IMO more carfeul than my first, maybe because she had never treated a trans before and was used to treating these small light hairs on these fair skinned women down here.  I stopped going about a year ago maybe?

I have some hairs left, but they are miniscule (or white) and I just trim them occasionally.  I would definitely prefer putting the money toward surgery.  I'll go get them zapped after surgery.  And I have a couple of spots that you might be able to call scars, but you might also be able to call them slightly larger pores.

I knew more than a few trans women who went for laser.  They all ended up at the electrologist shop.

.......electrolysis....never touched it....I've seen the revages of electrolysis on friends who went the electrolysis route...

It's out of date and there are far better sophisticated laser techniques these days which don't leave the damage and scarring that electrolysis seems to produce..

Galv: I get Lidocane injections before electrolysis though from a nurse there @ the center. I just had my upper lip done last week, and OMG ladies my lip was SWOLLEN for day's :-X. Plus if any of you read about me being assaulted by a patient the week before and the black eye I had, jesus what a look :embarrassed:.

If I complain too much about being male looking still then last week, GOD!!! :D

I get both right now: Laser & Electro. It's working and that's all I care about.
