Yesterday was a big day. I had my second appointment with my endocrinologist and a new round of lab tests. That wasn't the big part however. Years ago I was out every so often as Beverly, mostly as a staff member of Southern Comfort Conference. Today however, I made my first appearance in public as my real self. No makeup other than a little lipstick and most people didn't give me a second look. We stopped by Sonic on the way over to Emory, then Dr. Trangpricha's office, then Emory Clinic Lab and finally Radial Cafe (a low carbon print cafe) at the Rush Center (LGBT meeting center). Oh sure a few people were sneaking peeks but if it hadn't been for a slight bit of activism on my part, probably less people would have noticed. What was the activism? I was wearing my "Transgender Veteran, I Fought For Your Right To Hate Me" T-shirt!
Oh, I almost forgot. The woman who drew my blood for the lab tests told me I have beautiful eyes!
