It's important I think to be thankful and positive for small victories.

Today I had a few little ones.

First, was spending some time doing a leg wax. This was the first for me. The first leg hair removal. I was unsure how it would go if I would be wimpy and bail out on the pain. But it went wonderful. But most importantly was the sense of joy at the luxurious feeling of hair free legs. I found myself looking at them with wonder, I found myself rubbing my hands up and down them and just luxuriating in the silky smoothness.

Second, was going out dressed pretty neutral, but, carrying my ladies purse. I thought you know what Rickkie, girl you can do this. And I did. I carried it from my car to the small restaraunt I was attending and then carried it as we as a group went for a walk. I know it may not seem like much but it felt like a victory.

Third, was a small shopping trip. I stopped on my way home at the local supermarket, I went straight to the aisle with the makeup, nail polish and feminine products, I stood with some confidence as I assessed which of the wax products I would like. I stopped briefly and investigated some makeup products, though I didn't purchase, I investigated some nail poilish and some hair colours. What I didn't do was visibly flinch and shy away when other shoppers were nearby or walking past. What I didn't do was run and hide sneaking off to another aisle. I then took my wax to the checkout and bought it. I popped my purse under my armpit and walked/ no I sauntered, like a girl back to my car with such a sense of achievement.

Sometimes it's the little things, those tiny little microsteps forward that make a difference. Well that's how I feel today.

One thing I know is I would not have made these little victories, certainly not with such confidence and in this short a timeframe if it wasn't for the wonderful women here at Susans place. I don't know if it is too presumptuous but I want to call you my sisters.

such small things which give me a boost .. like trying new makeup or a new
nail color. Glad you had such a great day
