With some people I tried to cover the Trans* subject in general conversation first. I.e. Mentioned the Wakowski sisters (were brothers) when talking about films and The Matrix to gauge if they had any strongly negative feelings.
Otherwise, there is not really any easy way that I've found aside to just tell them, and accept that any initial reaction is a valid one, and then go from there.
I've tried to do it in a neutral public space where I've been able choose.
If, how and when you do it, I hope it goes well for you. X

With my closest friend who is still in the dark, I brought up Kaitlynne(sp?). Jenner.  He said he can't stand her.  I asked if he hates Bruce, and noted that she's still the same person.  I'm told I changed his opinion on trans* people.  Lol. He'll see why some day.

I learned that you just have to make sure you tell them and not cover it up. I learned the hard way. Most people I have told have been understanding and supportive.

You're not breaking the news, you're confiding with a friend. Sharing something that isn't public knowledge. They'll owe you one!  :)
