Hey, I thought I'd mention this because I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else on here (though I may not have looked hard enough) and I've noticed a few people doing it who may not be aware that they're doing it since they've most likely been used to doing it that way their entire lives.

It's something I read about in an article a few years ago, and although it's very easy to find exceptions and I'm not entirely sure to what degree it's true, I think it's still worth keeping it in mind to be on the safe side.

Basically the theory goes that men tend to have their hair parted on the left (from their perspective), with bangs pushed off to the right, and women tend to have it parted on the right, with bangs pushed off to the left, and this can affect how people perceive you. Allow me to (literally, and poorly) illustrate:

Here's an actual example from a random google image search of what I'm talking about: http://www.herinterest.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/5064ec2153c8e3398506d25586b0f2d0.jpg

So if you're trying to look more like a girl, consider mirroring your hairstyle if it doesn't already match that, or do the opposite if you're trying to look more like a guy. Again, I'm not 100% sure how true this theory is, but I know it can't hurt, and I'm sure that people here, like me, are probably looking for every little detail they can get down to try and further cement their gender role, so I thought I'd at least mention it. Oh, and obviously this only applies to asymmetrical hairstyles.

Umm, my part is a naturally occurring feature of my hair, I can't just brush the part out and move it to the other side..

i part my hair on my right... pushing my bangs on the left... this is my natural part... but my right side of my face i think looks more feminine so i part it that was so the left side of my face is somewhat hidden by my hair ..

Huh, really? I thought all hairlines were symmetrical at least as far as the bangs were concerned. As I said, it's not something to worry about and there's tons of publicly liked figures who do the opposite, it was just an interesting idea I came across that I thought I'd share.

Interesting! My hair will part either direction and for a few years i would flip it back and fourth as desired. I actually thought one way or the other looked better with certain hairstyles and outfits.

Currently and for a few years, i have pretty much parted from the right to the left. (perhaps i chose this because it is more feminine). Now my hair is asymmetrically cut so that the flip over to the left side is quite a bit longer, so i am not sure another part would work as well.

The piece also says that men with a right part present an uncomfortable image and look unusual or eccentric, and invite "social shunning"  Well that could explain a few happenings in my life before transition (kidding)
