Well band 32 bras fitted 'some' back in 2006, but I changed to band size 34 in 2007 because 32 size would leave deep red marks in my back where the strap was. I fit 34 A bras mostly, I haven't tried all brands, its a bit depressing to be bra-shopping when you're this small (and this poor).

As for my malformation, I found out online that it's called pectus excavatum. Or concave sternum (the joint between the ribs in the middle of the breasts).

Mine is not that deep, maybe 1 inch deep, 2 inch diameter. Potentially it would increase my cleavage...given I had enough breasts to have visible cleavage anyway. It's supposed to 'get worse' with age (puberty), but mine actually got less worse, or not worse anyway. I've always kept a small bone shape.

It's a rather common malformation, happening in 1/300 births and 3x as much in male children than female ones (according to that one site I saw about it).

My grandmother, and a (female) child I once met some years ago, both have it as well. It's said to be possibly stand alone, or as a symptom in a few conditions (including Noonan syndrome). I'm not sure what it is in my case, it never was investigated.

It affects the ribs (who are more rounded since they curve even more inward), the ribcage's overall form, and can possibly affects lungs and the heart if it's too pronounced (nothing in my case). It's possible to cosmetically 'repair' it, but is mostly done when its life-threatening. Breasts and cleavage could conceal much of it.

if your ribcage is 29inches, i cant see how 32s mark you :P but hey, your body...
36 is comfy, and while firm against my skin, is not tight... granted im a chubby one, so when ive lost weight maybe ill drop down...

The + 5 thing almost never works, even for women. There's a reason
why most women have the wrong bra size.
I'm certain that when I hit 32 band sometimes this year, I'm not going to be 27 or 28 inch.
I will simply mean that my upper trapeze back muscle has finally gone bye bye
and I'll probably be about 29.5 under and 31.5 inch over the breasts.
I think that below a certain value, you had 2 and 3 and not 5 anyway.
Anyway you look at it, that formula doesn't work well especially
for someone who is tall and has plenty of muscles which change
the thoracic cage girth. Now, it closer, but still not
giving the right response.

back muscle is funny stuff... i had a massage from a friend (shes qualified relaxation therapist) but anyway, she was so confused! she was like, 'i dont mean to offend you, but your back is really androgynous... not male or female (meaning musclulature i guess) was a giggle, i guess im halfway there :P
how long you been on magic pills k?

19 months (I think).
But, I had a very small frame which much muscles on top
so I'm not there yet. But, I want to keep muscle tone
in the upper body. In the lower body and core I don't mind muscles at all.

yeah same... i did have a fair bit....  im working on staying fit, toning up, and loosing weight too.... HARD!  ive only been on hrt a year but ive got significant change physically... my waist doesnt seem to carry half as much weight, quite visibly narrowed, and my torso is thinning down... im a smaller top size than pants/skirts, which isnt so bad ^_^

I've been told (by middleaged women) that I looked like a teen (or almost pre-teen, someone thought I was 14 :P). I sound like a child...with a PhD, sometimes (not my voice, but my personality).

Hormones haven't done much to my body. My measurements might have changed 0.5 to 1.0 inch since I started taking them 20 months ago. My arms, shoulders, ribcage and chest, have not changed however (those that did change were my hips, waist and chest where the breasts are). If I wanted to reduce my ribcage I probably would need a corset. I never was able to accumulate muscles, or weight at all.

The heaviest I've weighted was 115 lbs for my height (5'6"), the lowest since I reached this height was 99 lbs, last summer, when my estrogen was too low (bad doc) until I fixed it. I can eat as much as I want (and that means, fat and sugar and anything goes), I can hardly get past 110 lbs. I wish I could get a bit more fat to grow my breasts with.

DING DING DING

Try supplementing 5 table spoons of olive or canola oil daily.  It doesn't taste too bad on toast, or just drop it in some soup or food, or just swallow it, it's almost flavorless.

Hi Schala
I was like that to 110 115 lbs and measure 5'3" tall and the hormones didn't do much for me either in the first year but then Wing Walker suggested for me to get a protein drink that it may helps. You see I was anorexic some years back 84lbs and was never able to put on weight since no difference how much I ate. The supplement I take is called 100% Premium Whey Protein. 46g protein 4g carbohydrates. I swear by this stuff, I gained up to 130lbs and I have 36b bras and I have hips. I believe that if you are a slim or underweight person to begin with it leaves the hormones with no fat to work on. Something like that, I just know that it worked for me. I use to eat only one meal per day supper, then I started using the supplement drink in the morning.

Hi Schala.
Yes it does work, Wing Walker found out about this drink while we were visiting a friend of her's, another Cindy in DC. She hardly ate at all but she was still plumpy looking and I asked Wing Walker to ask her how she did it. That was how I found out about the protein drink, that was about five years ago.  Especially if you are the type of person that eats only one meal per day the supplement drink has the value of a full course meal. If your not big on eating in the morning this protein drink makes for a good replacement. I love supper now, although I eat with an appetite now, when I was coming off anorexia I only ate one small meal per day and drank juices, it was hard to swallow solids at first. Now sometimes it's like a contest between Wing Walker and I as to who eats more. I love suppertime. :D

Hi, Rachael,

IMHO, it's not surprising that we might sound like girls who are younger than we really are.  I believe that's because some of us, if not many of us, did not start growing breasts until we were well past 18.

In my case I am 56 and I think of my breasts as being those of a teen-aged girl on a much older platform.  I am grateful for that!

So if I sound a bit like a teen-aged girl, that's because parts of my body are new to me and I have more questions about how they got there and how they grow and how to care for them.

If that's sounding like a teen-aged girl, then I am as guilty as the day is long, but I have never had breasts, hips, thighs, face, musculature, and emotions like those of a teen-aged girl before.

Next scientific question, does BMI have anything to deal with breast growth?
