Has anyone noticed their hair getting drier?  I have always had thick and dry hair that I was washing about twice weekly.  It is dry but gets oily at the roots and sticky after about 4 days.  I am at about 2 months on hrt and I noticed my hair is getting dryer.  No oil, no sticky, roommate says it still looks/smells clean and neutral when I asked.  It's been a week since I have shampooed it (don't worry, i still wash my body everyday hahahaha ).  Has anyone else noticed something similar?  Skipping washing my hair is great!  Its a pain in the butt.  However,  I don't want it to get as dry as straw.

Testosterone causes the body to produce more oils, thus the lack of testosterone is making your hair stay fresh longer. You should start using a conditioner if you aren't already.

I was like a greased pig before estrogen.
Much better now.  :)

This is a good thread. My hair is also getting far drier that it used to in my old T days. Conditioner helps some. Can any of you out there suggest their favorite conditioners? Thanks, Anne

On top of testosterone stimulating sebum(oil) production, estrogen inhibits it. In my case, adding some progesterone which stimulates oil production, helps my hair not get so dry. Balances things out. ;) Progesterone is NOT androgenic.

My hair is far less oily but I sweat a fair amount and after a couple of days, I can smell it when I wet my head down. The smell isn't body odor but it's kind of a wet hair smell and while it's not offensive, I would rather not have it so I shampoo every other day.

I only wash my hair with shampoo and conditioner once a week. Every two days or so, I wash it using conditioner only.
Once a month I apply coconut oil to my hair. There are lots of YouTube videos and they all seem to recommend different ways to do it, but I leave it in for between 1 and 3 hours, then shampoo it out. It leaves my hair feeling silky and soft. I have read that it is good for growing your hair longer too.

Yes, it's the first thing I've noticed when I started. T-blockers inhibit testosterone's actions so ofc sebum production will be greatly diminished. It was mandatory for me to wash my hair every other day since it got so greasy, but now I can leave it for a week and my hair will have minimal oil. Plus, the dryness has caused me to have a return of dandruff which was previously hidden by the natural hair oils and now I get more knots in my hair too. I never used to use conditioner on my hair before, but now I lather it GENEROUSLY or else the knotting will end me!!!
My life doesn't exist in this lifetime.
