So last time I was here, I was having a grand adventure of being unemployed, thanks to deciding to get away from the discrepancy of a workplace I was in.
After being a good three months of literally no work, doing just about nothing but reading different things, watching soap operas with my mom, and her other shows, going to most if not all family events, dealing with my monthly military weekends, and more or less, just laying around.
I admit I was lazy when it came to job hunting, because I had a decent amount of savings to take care of my bills and other means to live off of. Yesterday of all days I decide to put in an application toward Costco, two hours later I receive a phone call from the manager of one of their departments that they reviewed my application and was quite interested in getting me on board, with an interview at hand earlier this morning at 11am. The department manager must have really liked me and how I handled myself in the interview, so when they had asked me if I had any questions, I asked a simple "when can I start?"
This is where, I had claimed for 2pm interview with the warehouse manager for 2 pm. I wasn't expecting to have the interview streamlined that quick to be able to get hired. So as the interview had gone on for a bit, it did come across the question of why I quit my previous job. Of course letting them know of the discrimination and even how HR reacted with my situation there. I realized that the manager was holding back a total face palm about the whole thing, then came the whole ideals and inclusiveness that this company withholds.
And even though I had gone with my birth name for my application (so there wouldn't be any discrepancies within a background check) and through with that, I did let the manager know I did prefer Kate as my name rather than as to what they were going by. And there was no issues for that at all. So I did land the job in as little as two days of work put in, but then again I don't start until October 7th.
I guess you could say this is a life update for me! And a rather good one at that.

Thank you all!

An update for today since it was my first official day on the job. So first it was orientation and paperwork. So this morning at 8 I walk in and get set up. This place blew me away right away, because I would have thought within the paperwork they started would have had my birth name and all, well of course the paperwork did, but to my great surprise when they had the cover orientation and then packet underneath but with sticky notes with names and departments covered right on top, I did have trouble locating my packet due to totally not expecting that they would put my name as Kate there. But really it threw me off because they swapped my department towards the bakery department rather than the meat department, which what I was expecting. So after the first little bit of confusion about that everything went really smooth.
So after the whole 4 hours of orientation happened they asked each of us if we were willing to stay and help out the front end area, and of course, I decide to stay to help out along with two others with the 14 that had orientation this morning. So of course, I am official as Kate while working, and no issues at all!
Summing this up, I am happy as can be with choosing my workplace and the acceptance they have, which is unlike my previous job.

Kate, Congratulations! I just love it when things work out the way that they should, when people surprise you and treat you the way a person should be. And by staying late and helping out you just affirmed their choice in hiring you. Thank you for sharing your joy! - Anne

Wow!  New job, first day, and totally accepted!  Well done, and congratulations.  That's got to feel great after your old job.  What a great story.  Thank you for sharing it.

That sounds great, Katie. Good luck! I've heard Costco is a much better place to work than their competitors, less turnover.

Thank you again everyone <3

Day two... well technically picked up a day on an off day. Well at first I took a silly approach of not completely looking at my military work schedule, and had told them I had my military weekend this weekend, which of course was misinterpreted from my own part. So they had given me Today and tomorrow off. After realizing that I made a booboo about it, I called work as soon as I could this morning and apologized about the mix up, and if they did need me. So lo and behold, they say for me to come in, and I agree.
So getting to the meat and potatoes of the day... I of course start right away with computer based training, my department manager had set me up in the office, and soon after about one hour later I was done, even before my manager was expecting me to finish, so she was impressed with how quick I did so, and started me off in the bakery. I was of course being trained by some of the best co workers/teachers for the department, and we had so much to do, but by learning quickly, and the collaboration and teamwork we all managed to get it done. It was such a fun day. Had been packaging and labelling everything under the sun, from bagels to pies, and getting it all. To make a huuuuuuge note on everything, I am one of the girls and am treated as such, and it's just amazing.
I just can't wait until probation is over and I am switched over so I can start getting medical and be on my way with hoping to start transitioning.

Thank you Jackie and Mariah!

Already in a week, and it feels like I had passed probation time, as more than a handful of my bakery sisters are on board of wanting me to stay there, and including already trying to talk to management for keeping me. Just gotta keep on going, and get past the first 90 days so I can get medical and everything I need to stay.

The only issue I foresee is only with the military life, and even though laws have passed to where I am able to stay whilst transition and all, is that I do have to remain male mode for that even while going through transition, which may cause issues with physical performance, once I am able to start hrt.
