So as some might know, Ive been lurking aand posting this site. Been ups and downs, weird little mistakes and dumb things Ive said and did, new things Ive learned, things  Ive recalled and support I got from people feeling the same issues.

Its kind of surreal I started this site around October-December 2015 dreaming of presenting as male, passing, and getting on T...and now October 2016 Im getting my name changed. My name is Val, and now it will officially be Valentine. Its a little unique and obscure but I can handle that much, because its my name and its a name I made for myself without changing myself, because I always am myself no matter what.

Im still scared of the future in many other ways but...tomorrow is going to be a weird, lifechanging day and Im too numb to feel anything real about that now becauses its just so strange, Im going to figure out how I feel about that change as things go on tomorrow, I've been anticipating it a long time.

Also its going to be a heck of a long task sending that legal name change document to EVERYTHING, but well worth it.

Congrats; yeah takes a while to get used to a new name being YOUR name plus other people calling you by it; but worth it :). After a few weeks it just feels normal and nothing special  ;)
They/them pronouns preferred.

Congratulations and thanks for sharing the news!  :)

My name was changed in late August and I'm just getting the hang of NOT signing my old name on the UPS/Fedex pads every morning at work!

Good job, Val!

As Devlyn says, it takes time to develop a new signature.  I practiced for hours and hours until it became second nature.  Nowadays it's a perfectly illegible scrawl.   ;D
What you look forward to has already come, but you do not recognize it.

LOL, I  just learned how to do an upper case D and T and left the chicken scratch in the middle alone!

Thanks guys!

Im really happy with the change...I guess for now it doesnt feel drastic just yet because I havent changed enough of my documentation for it to come in full use yet but so far the DMV and my doctor knows it and its nice to hear my full name said by new strangers. And yeah, soon it will be normalized but until then it's going to be a weird revelation to adjust to.

...and LOL Devlyn, I guess thats all you need with signatures :P

If its not an official document of swords I always go by the shorthand of my initials in signing, so signature wouldnt be an issue. However, signing my name in print might be a new task to adjust but I think I'll get used to it quickly...
