I am a 20 year old trans girl who transitioned at 18. I passed from the beginning and people always thought I was very girlish growing up. My storuy is that I am very attracted to a 29 year old man, who knows about me and seems to admire me very much, he has given vibes but I try not to hold too much expectations so I don't let myself down. My question is do you think a genuine relationship between someone this older could work? I say this because I am studying and he works, however I have worked many fields to finance my HRT and clothing, like door to door selling, child care and call center. Still waiting for SRS. And he knows this and admires it. But I don't like feeling dependent on anyone.

My mother married at 20 and there was a 20 year difference in age between my mother and my father so relationships like that can work if you are careful. Someone older will be more set in their way so you may need to give more in the relationship. In addition, my mother is still alive but my father passed around 25 years ago so it's more likely you will find yourself alone in old age. I would suggest taking your time and really getting to know each other so both of you will know if the compromises you will need to make will be acceptable.

Agreed, though he is not 20 years older, he is 9 years older and I really like our conversations, and the way he sees the world. He is very gentle, and even though nothing has happened yet, I feel like it could. He thinks I am intelligent. however, I do need to know what adjustements I would have to make.

I don't see any reason why not. My mom and dad were just shy of 20 years apart and my fiance and I are just over 10 years apart by less than a month. It really comes down to personal preference and what both of you are comfortable with. Hugs

I say keep your guard up when it comes to dating guys with that much of an age difference at the age you're at. Not saying he's taking advantage of you or will, its just like you said you have to be careful about it. So the best thing to do is to take things slow, get to know each other better, if he really wants to be with you he won't mind and you'll have a better idea of where you stand, like it also gives you the chance to see if there are any red flags before things get too serious. Love is blind as the saying goes.

In ever relationship I have had it has been a 6-10 year difference except my first one which was only 2 years. In terms of how you approach it. Well you have to decide and understand that if it succeeds or fails it is a part of who you are. Just be sensible and set small goals at first.

Hmmm... since my early twenties, I never had relationships with men under 50. I do prefer them over emotionally immature, inexperienced little boys.
