Hello everyone!   It is nice to meet you all.  My name is Chloe. I am MTF and will be beginning hormones next month!  I am super excited and nervous.  I have been out for about two years.  I have legally changed my name and corrected my social security card.  I am out at work.  I am moving rather slowly in my opinion.  I have yet to begin laser hair removal / electrolysis.

I am hoping for guidance.  Those of you on this path probably have a lot of knowledge and insight.  I really need a helping hand with goals to set.  Passing is very important to me.  I know that that shouldn't be the main drive but it is a pretty big one for me.  I identify as a heterosexual lady and dating is something I want to begin soon.  My dream is to one day have my own family.  I have accepted that I am unable to get pregnant. :-(

I have a feeling I will be depending on these forums.  I do not have a local community near me.  I hope you all do not tire of me.

Again it is wonderful to meet you all. :-D  Feel free to ask me anything and if you want to offer me help or advice on any matters.regarding transition I will greatly appreciate it.

Hi Chloe,

If passing is important to you, please understand it will probably take at least a couple years.  First and foremost, begin facial hair removal immediately -- for most transitioners, it takes at least 18 months of full weekly clearing to get this done, if not longer.  Some can get a jump start with laser; almost everyone needs electrolysis to finish the job (if you don't, count yourself lucky).

Concurrently, work on your voice -- women's voices are typically a higher pitch and different timbre.  It takes dedicated practice, and a willingness to listen to your recorded voice so you can modify your techniques with more objective feedback.  It took me 6 months to find my voice, and another 6 months to make it permanent 24/7.

Strongly consider facial surgery!  Seriously.  There are significant dimorphic differences in the shape of the forehead brow, nose, chin and mandible between the sexes. They become more discernible as we get older.  And don't forget the hair on your head -- preserve it, take care of it, and address any shortcomings as necessary.

To conventionally pass in bed as a heterosexual woman takes bottom surgery.

And that's just the physical aspects of passing.  Over time, there will be issues of social expectations, modes of interaction and conversation, for example.  There's even more, but that's an entirely different conversation, which is necessarily predicated on getting as a far as I've already described.

All this (except voice practice) will take money.  A lot of it.  Above all else, stay employed, and the best way to do that is make yourself indispensable to your employer, both in terms of your productivity and how well you promote a harmonious social environment.  Also, build up your credit.  The more you can borrow, the faster you can go.  In the interim, live on the cheap and save like crazy.  Finally, take care of your body -- you'll get much better results if you're fit, eating healthy and exercising regularly; being overweight and out of shape leads to many more complications.

This is the material reality that most of us have to face.
What you look forward to has already come, but you do not recognize it.

This is a recent picture of me.  I am really hoping that with hormones that I won't need any facial surgery.  Thanks for your response Sophia!  Maybe we can talk sometime!  I really would love help on getting organized and getting a specific plan in motion.

Once you've made the requisite number of posts here, I'd be happy to exchange PMs.

Okay, Chloe, you are in a fantastic position -- and you're so young!  First things first: hormones will not change the size and shape of your skull.  The bones that have grown will not regress.  What anti-androgens and estrogens will do is prevent any further masculinization of your face.  It will also slow the growth of your facial hair and inhibit new growth.  The facial hair you do have will need to be treated.  Some people swear by laser -- I'm of the opinion that electrolysis is always in the cards, but I'm old school. Thankfully it looks like you don't have much... yet.

The fantastic news is that you have a short face, with a delicate chin and jaw.  You do have some brow bossing, and your hairline is already beginning to significantly recede.  At this point I don't think it will keep you from passing.  Will you need facial surgery?  No.  However, if you had your forehead done, you'd go from easily passing to completely unclockable, and not just that, but extremely pretty.

If I were you, I'd get on HRT immediately to preserve the good features you currently enjoy.
What you look forward to has already come, but you do not recognize it.
