I am just wondering what kind of options ther might be for typical MPB
male patern baldness.
I have plenty of hare everywhare but at the natrual hair line and it is very thin till the top of the crown.

are off the shelf produsts realy effective for restoring hair growth?

are there hair pices or appliances that can cover a reciding hair line and work with my remaining hair?

any style options that may help?

Thanks
Kate

Well, my therapist directed me to get and use minoxidil (Topical), however I am on HRT and do NOT have a normal male makeup currently. Regardless, if the box is to believed it's supposed to do something along the regrowth lines in about 4 months, however it does mention you must continue to use the stuff to keep those follicles active basically.

The same is true for perscription medications such as Propicia.  If you are on HRT, you MUST talk with your doctor before using Propicia and other "internal" medications.  There are warnings regarding women taking Propicia.  I don't know if it is because it can cause birth defect, or if there is an interaction with estrogen.

You may want to consider a transplant.  I am considering it, although it is VERY expensive.  There is a place in Tulsa, Oklahoma, that is about half cost.  They claim it is because they keep their services simple.

When in regards to rogain and such, my brother started on it and pretty much as has allready been stated you must continue use of it so more than likely it will work but as soon as you stop it youll be well S.O.L. But along the same line my father has gone to what is it something like bosley medical or something like that and has had actually hair replacement from folicals from the back of his head and neck and it grows like normal with a more than natural look. But along the same line you could go for a whig or for something with longer bangs to kind of hide the masculinity.
I hope that helps!

Hi KateAlice,

I have long hair but also a receding hairline. I found a bangs hairband I really like to use. I ussally wear a headband with it and it looks very real.

I looked around the net and found a few:

Think I'll buy one of these for only $10...

This one looks cool....might want to trim it your face:

Bang wigs have worked for me and really look like my real hair...because most of it is real :)
