Hi All,

Well again I come in to give some news and touch base. Wanted to let you all know that in Pheonix AZ a business owner of a food establishment/bar had many TS females coming in and using his restrooms on the ladies side. he was getting constant complaints and decided to obtain a lawyer to defend his rights to keep the woman out of the womans bathroom if they were TS. He had first contacted the firm to find out what legalities were involved. I was then contacted by the firm's representing attorney and asked how could this business owner deal with the issue.

I believe I posted about this somewhere a while back and asked you all to voice your views. I responded to the question by stating that many of you felt that if a person was TS and not cross dressing they had every right to be in the womens bathroom because they were woman, but for CD's it was different. that was the over all tone of the response you all gave me.

Anyway things heated up out there and he was then denying any of the TS woman access to the womens bathroom because he could not tell who was TS verses CD and the patrons were getting pissed.

The attorney that contacted me had read my book and had became discusted with what their firm was doing by backing this business owner in what appeared to her as blatant discrimination against woman, regardless of their TS status. Finally in frustration she gave the business owner the book and asked him to just read it and educate himself on issues facing TS people.

I was contacted this week, and the results are absolutely amazing. Not only did he open the restrooms up to TS population, he has changed his establishment to a TS establishment for the community to have somewhere to frequent and feel comfortable and accepted in a public space!

I wanted to share this with all of you. Because while this is but one small step, it is a victory for all people with variant identities. All of you that answered my poll or question (can't remember quite how I did that) your voices were heard! And change has occured. I also share this with you because I want you all to know that little actions that we all take, can turn out amazing outcomes. So you all are have voices and you can be heard and a difference can be made! If I had not gotten your feedback I would not have been real sure on how to start my responses with the attorney that reflected a collective view of things.

So just wanted to let you know the outcome, and you all should take pride in speaking up when you do these polls. Thanks!

Peace,

Taylor

Hi Taylor
I think starting a poll is a wonderful idea, but I am as lost as you as as to how to launch a poll. Maybe one of the mods here if they happen to stumble on this thread they might be able to direct or help us as to how to do so.

Good on that.  Nice when things work out.  Sort of the "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em deal."
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

I read this story before in one of the news tem.
I don't think it was only TS (or even mostly TS) that generated the complaints.
Don't think you could run a business based on only TS patrons; So, I'm guessing
its a T population (in particular CD's) and those that are not T but open to this  (a bit
like straight going into gay bars) who makes the bar's money.

Cindy, the poll was done several months ago, and I was posting the outcome from allowing your voices to be heard.

Renate, thanks for the plug.  The new edition is out and is a 2007 edition revised so if anyone decides to get a copy use 2007 for your year. 2006 should be about out of print now.

And yes, I do believe education is key Rachel, and thanks to all of those who responded to the poll, I was able to carry your voices to the front.  The organization I run tries to be a representation of collective voices in the TS and IS community, without your responses we could not accurately or effectively do so! So credit yourselves as well!

Peace
Taylor

If anyone wants more info on the organization itself just let me know. I don't think I am allowed to post it here, but if I can let me know and I will post the website address for you all.

Hi Taylor I am interested to learn more about the organization. I am just sitting here on my fanny watching myself grow older anyway.

Right on Taylor!!! As a Phx Az resident this is indeed great news. I will forward this information to the support group I attend here (TG Harmony).

There seem's to be a lot of TS issues going on here, especially, in Scottsdale. Exciting.

Hi All,

Renate: Now I have been coming in here all these years and have NEVER notices that by clicking on that earth icon you go to my website but dang if you don't! LOL  Oh man I am so not techi! But yes it does work and thx for pointing that out!

Funnygrl: I will ask the attorney next time I talk to her the name of the establishment. Due to client confidentuality issues I never actually asked. I assume with this outcome he would want it to be told. So I will try and get the info for you.

Due to my work time etc. I don't get in here a lot, but anyone that would like to contact me can do so through my website, it comes into our confidential email, and is checked several times a day.

Talk to you all later,
Have a good week!

Peace
Taylor
