Facial hair growth - mixed feelings

I've been on testosterone since December of last year. It's been good so far. I'm starting to grow more facial hair, though, and I knew it was coming, but shaving is a pain in the butt, and I don't want to grow a mustache or beard or whatever. So I put up with shaving, obvs :P

The guys in my family grow thick, frizzy beards, which I know is some people's dream, and I respect that. A lot of folks who take testosterone and identify as men or male-aligned take it as a good sign, or it's something they look forward to, but for me, it's just a nuisance. Does anyone else not particularly care for having facial hair? I'm just wondering if anyone else has similar feelings about this (or other traditionally masculine physical features, particularly those brought on by T, but not necessarily).

Not particularly looking for advice about getting rid of it, just hoping to start a dialogue with other people having similar issues. Those people might need advice, though, and I'm always open to it, so if you do have advice -- say, about dealing with that stubbly feeling -- don't hold back (:

Im right there with you, man. I like my baby face and having a beard would be so, so strange for me. I can deal with a bit of facial fuzz and it might look cool but that'd be the extent of it. Luckily, as it seems my brother hasnt had much facial hair and being only two years younger it seems I may only get a bit of chin scrufd at most and I am okay with that ^^

Not to stir the pot, but I don't understand these views. Cis men do not have a choice. You don't really have one either if you're taking testosterone. It's a moot point. You have to shave, oh well. If you hate it that much you can always ask around the MTF boards on electrolysis.
I'll be there someday, I can go the distance

I was worried about facial hair growth quite a bit because I was afraid of having to shave every day. So far I don't have to shave daily plus I am taking anti depressants so I don't dread daily grooming the way I did when I was depressed. HTH.

If Im reading it right I dont think its so much he doesnt want to be a man that grows facial hair moreover he's a man who would prefer being clean shaven, but I get what you mean with him being annoyed at regularly shaving might seem he didnt want to start growing it at all, which would seem odd since it comes with the territory

It's a weird habit to start getting used to is shaving regularly but its a habit I prefer to female predisposed ones

There's plenty of cis men who have mixed feelings about their facial hair or see shaving as a nuisance.

Anyway, I guess I have similar mixed feelings because my goal has always been to be a more androgynous, pretty boy. But at this point I'm so frustrated with being mis-gendered all the time that I'm kind of wanting to grow out my facial hair with the idea that it might at least get me gendered correctly. But I'm not sure if I'm going to like it or not. I keep shaving it off before I can really tell. I have known a few trans guys, though, who started out really uncomfortable with the idea of facial hair and then over time grew to be really into their beards. So maybe for some people it's just a question of getting used to that change.

Although I like having facial hair, I do share your hatred of shaving, and unfortunately my facial hair is still extremely sparse/patchy in most places so I have to deal with it more often than I'd like. I only wish I could actually grow a full beard so I could just put off shaving as long as I want without having to worry about my face looking like a balding rat.

Please don't put that on your face :) Biotin supplements are a better option.

No I haven't, although I've considered it. Haven't tried Biotin either, but that also piques my interest.

For one, it isn't meant for use on the face. It's meant for head hair. It can be really harsh on the skin, so if you have sensitive skin I'd strongly encourage you to not even try it.

Second - you'd have to continuously use it. Any growth you get from it isn't guaranteed to stay. It's not the cheapest stuff around to have to use forever.  (ETA: This link is a good explanation of how Minoxidil works in layman's terms - https://www.drugs.com/answers/why-hair-loss-starts-again-after-we-stop-using-459450.html)

Biotin is fairly cheap in terms of supplements. You don't have to continuously take it. It just provides the vitamins responsible for hair growth. So assuming you've already tried all the things that encourage facial hair (eating right, drinking enough water, washing your face, staying active, low stress, etc.), it would be like an added push to get you there.

Also keep in mind that hair in general is genetic. If the guys on your mom's side of the family do not have good facial hair genes, you may be out of luck.

I don't love it or hate it. If anything, it's there as a great passing card if you ever need it.

I like facial hair and would love to have more than what I have now. I can grow only a stache and a small goatee plus few stray hair around my lip piercing in the middle, wth.

The shaving part is just... bleh. I should do it more but since I don't have a fancy electric razor I get lazy very often with it. Thus, I tend to have terrible facial hair going on, especially now that I don't have to look presentable for work, lol.

I've decided not to use it as its too dangerous for me,I'm really fed up because I'm not allowed to take t either and wanted a bit of hair growth on my face but it's better to be safe than sorry and many men can't grow much and are clean shaven so I will just have to be one of those men!
