"14 years after the murder of Gwen Araujo her mother Alecia Reid carries on the fight to educate while burdened with the memories of the horrific crime. Mother Reid who now lives in a friends car has the goodness of heart to forgive one of the remorseful murders at his parole board.

The 2002 murder of transgender teen Gwen Araujo was reported in ways of old, misgendering and deadnaming her. By present day standards the USA Today would it itself be considered a hate crime. At the request of Araujo's mother, a judge posthumously changed her legal to Gwen Amber Rose Araujo on June 23, 2004"
