I just starting a fairly high dose of finasteride (having tolerance issues with spiro). I fortunately have a full head of hair, (no receding hairline) but I'm also going grey and have a naturally fast growth rate.

In any case my concern is oddly just my hair cut /dye schedule.

Side note, does anyone know if finasteride can help with the whole going grey thing?

Don't believe it helps with greying at all, but it can help with hair growth by blocking DHT. Hugs

Good to know on greying hair. Thx. The literature that I saw said it can help with receding hairline, but I'm still not sure if it in any way affects the actual growth rate of the new/existing scalp follicles.

Finasteride isn't a substitute for spironolactone but usually used as a complement to it as it only reduces DHT (dihydrotestosterone) levels while Spiro, a more potent anti-androgen, reduces production of overall androgens, including testosterone and DHT and blocks them at the receptors. I'm not a doctor but just thought it was important to mention.

Definitely important. I should have clarified that I'm still on spiro at 3/4 full dose. Thanks for making sure I was aware!. :-)
