Diego Sanchez become The Democratic Committee's first transgendered appointment.
Diego Sanchez is "truly humbled" as he becomes the first transgendered person to grace the Democratic National Platform Committee. The appointment means that Sanchez will have a hand in shaping the party's platform over the next four years during the Democratic Convention in Denver this summer. Sanchez has long supported gay, lesbian and transgender rights, and considers HIV prevention and treatment his biggest priority come the convention.
