"A 17-year-old trans teenager is being sued by her mother for seeking to transition without her consent.
The teen who cannot be named for legal reasons does not live with her mother and does not contact her. She sought the help of government agencies to begin the process. "

Even though Minnesota law states "any minor who is living separate and apart from parents and who is managing personal financial affairs may give effective consent to personal medical and other health services, and the consent of no other person is required," Ms Calgaro still believed parents should be notified and included in their children's medical decisions.

The party that spouts bon mots about Rule of Law. Can't stop breaking laws.

FWIW, three other articles with additional details:

The Washington Post mentions that the issue came up when the teen wanted a legal name change.  There was no court order emancipating the teen, and the court said the petition had to be filed by her parent or legal guardian.

A Minnesota newspaper has other details.

Slate sees this as a possible wedge issue to limit abortion rights, as well as trans rights.
