Mike Pence Booed, Confronted at Hamilton Performance

"The cast of the hit musical Hamilton is used to seeing celebrities in the audience, but politicians — especially ones as polarizing as vice president-elect Mike Pence — are more rare.
But Pence was indeed at Friday night's show in New York, with Secret Service in tow. Walking into the Richard Rodgers Theatre to boos and cheers, Pence waved to the crowd before sitting down. Many lines of the show, which focuses on founding father Alexander Hamilton and stars gay actors Javier Munoz (Hamilton) and Rory O'Malley (King George),seemed to directly address Pence, according to Billboard."

Good for them. No quarter given to those that would take rights away from people. Things are going to get fairly nasty in the short term. There are a lot more of us and our allies than them though.

I watched the video of the events inside the theater.  Javier Munoz's speech to VP-elect Pence was polite, erudite and, I thought, very well done.  One may argue as to whether it was appropriate, but presentations by the cast at the end of performances to promote causes have long been common in New York theaters.

I see nothing there to apologize for, or to be insulted by.  He made his plea well.  The demand that he apologize sends it's own message, in my opinion.

Considering the history of what's happened in theatres to Presidents past, I dare say this was really rather civilised and reasonable.

The only words I have for either of the *-elects: Suck it up, buttercup. You're no more immune to scrutiny than anybody else.

The artist community in New York represents the kind of people Pence has made no bones about subjugating. He was in their backyard. If he wants adulation, he needs to spend his entertainment dollars at wrestling events or by showing up at the stock car races.  The great thing about those venues is, his Wife and Daughter will be safe in the Bathrooms.
