Would you consider this a compliment or more backhanded

I hooked up with a guy last night, this morning he texted me and told me that he's just not into it because there wasn't a natural comfort like there would be with a natural born girl then he told me that he finds me attractive, more than some chicks. Would you consider that last part a compliment?

I doubt it was meant as a compliment, more like something to save him from getting told off.

It was like saying "You're not a real woman and I can't be attracted to that. But don't get mad and yell at me because I think you are pretty."

That's what it sounds like to me anyway.
Trying to take it one day at a time :)

I think he thinks it was a compliment.  But he's also saying you're not a real woman by the way he phrased it.

He thought it was a compliment, but expressed it poorly.  His loss: you are very pretty.

While badly put I would take it as a complement. While not perfect at least he made some effort to give you and explanation rather then just breaking off contact or being just horrible.

I think he wanted a one night stand but doesn't consider you dating material because you're transgender. (in my opinion)

I wouldn't say its a compliment. More sugar-coating. And not quite of a backhand comment either.

It's like saying, "You're so handsome, but you don't make enough money to support us if we wanted a family" or "I would date you when you were in your early 20s, but after the meltdown and the crazy antics I would be too embarrass to bring you to my family".
"Anyone who believes what a cat tells him deserves all he gets."

Although he did use you for a one night stand, since he never had any intention to dating you before you even kissed. I would be more upset with that if there was any intention of a relationship.

Ok I was about to say "Men can be asses" - but just the fact that you are asking this shows how much of a natural woman you are. Don't ever let anyone rate your authenticity/realness/naturalness... Much love [emoji177] [emoji177]

I think he was being honest.  Take the compliment as I think it was meant to be and respond with a thank you for being honest with me.

I tend to see good in people and try not to make up stuff (reading between three lines)  that's not implied strongly between the lines.  I've gotten myself in huge trouble doing that.  Also doing so will not help your psyche.
