Hi my name is Jesse, I'm a 16 year old male and over the past few weeks I've suddenly been unsure of my gender. I have always felt like a boy but every now and then I'd wonder what it is like being a girl, sometimes even wishing I was born one. I've always been jealous of girls about lots of things like how they can talk about their feelings more. I have never really fit in with boys and have found it easier to be friends with girls. I'm not sure whether or not I want to be a boy and I don't know if this is just a puberty thing as this has just sprung up over the past few weeks

(Sorry about the writing, I've never been good at structuring things)

Welcome to Susan's Place. This early it's hard to determine what you feel because there are a number of possibilities but this isn't a normal feeling to have in puberty. You have come to the right place for self discovery and we will be happy to help you with any questions you might have. I am giving you two additional links that will give you the basic that will help you ask the questions you have. The first link is our WIKI where you will learn the many forms transgender may take. The second link is "the transition channel" where a therapist will explored the question you will need to answer. Post any questions you might have on this thread and I will respond to them when I see them.

We issue to all new members the following links so you will best be able to use the web site.

If you question your gender at all, you are likely some percentage trans. I didn't know I was partially transmale until 2013, and I was born in 1952!

My ex-husband recently emailed me that he also plans to transition to living as a woman, although he considers himself "other," or non-binary, gender-wise.

It seemed to come completely out of nowhere for my ex, but for me, it was when I asked myself what gender I considered myself to be, and was shocked when I heard myself reply "male."

Then realized I'd always known that. But I'm only 60% trans and have a very vocal female side also, weaker than the male personality.

I would say these feeling's would have been known a long time ago Jesse, with these feeling's being in the last few weeks or so then I would give yourself some space and time, puberty is difficult and its a roller-coaster, you need to get past this and then you will have a better idea of who you should be.

I think April's dead on ... for me, my earliest memories were telling my mom that I thought I was a girl and something was wrong.
High School and puberty are super stressful as it is, and it's pretty easy to get fixated on "what if?" idea. But if you're not sure then dip your toes in.. try dressing or expressing yourself as female and see how it feels.
