Sorry I am not to sure where to post this question? So mods please move to where you think is correct.

I have only recently decided and accepted I am TG, and I intend to progress to HRT but in the UK and on the NHS this can take time, which is 70 weeks for my local clinic, I have a receding hair line and I am to the stage where it looks better shaved, this is starting worry me a great deal.

My main question is once on hrt will this recover or am I destined to a life of using wigs?

Only time will tell. Generally speaking, if you last it within the last 4 to 5 years you have a good chance of getting it back. I would suggest checking into Finasteride, or Durtraside. They're commonly used prescription drugs that will arrest your receding hairline until you start with hormones. They're not exactly cheap, but they do help quite a bit. It will require patience it's a slow process.

I was in major recession on my hairline. I got about 80% fill on my crown and perhaps an eighth of an inch back on my temples, and it took about 7 months on Finasteride. With that being said, Finasteride and Dutraside work best for hair loss on the back of your head and is somewhat less effective on the temples for regrowth. However, they are effective at stopping a receding hairline. **provided that DHT was the cause of your hair loss**
At what point did my life go Looney Tunes? How did it happen? Who's to blame?... Batman, that's who. Batman! It's always been Batman! Ruining my life, spoiling my fun! >:-)

Minoxidil, a topical agent, may also help. HRT will typically stop further hair recession/loss.
I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience
