I went to get an injection today with the Dr responsible for my HRT. Normally I would just dress androgenous and am always gendered male except for the Dr and her receptionist. But more recently I have been really struggling with some stuff and out of it came a decision that Liz was going to be out a lot more than she was and starting with all the places I consider as safe as you would imagine my HRT Dr is one of them. My Dr deals with Trans and cis women alike and when I arrived, no make-up (having electrolysis soon) had my hair up and wearing a typically casual female outfit of jeans and top with flat shoes and handbag.

I went into the office and as I was waiting a ciswoman engaged me in some fashion talk asking what I thought about shoes she was looking at and when the Dr came out and spoke this woman's name she turned and looked at me and then the Dr and said

"But Dr this Woman is next as she has another appointment to be at" 

That is the first time a complete stranger has comfortably gendered me female...in fact it is the first time someone has done it in a public casual situation in my life. I felt wonderful as I am sure you have all felt but for me I am not particularly "passable" at the moment however this woman treated me with respect and dignity. I am sure she understood I was trans but it doesn't matter to me wether she did or didn't...the only other place I get gendered correctly is a support group situation.

I could not wipe the smile off my face because for those few minutes everything in my universe felt in alignment and that feeling was something I have never experienced and it lasted for awhile. It just feels really nice and a comfort to hear. It felt like a big warm hug. If ever I needed to hear that today was the day.

Aaaawww! That made me cry. Either you look more like a woman than you think, and/or putting out strong femme vibes, the woman is familiar with transgender issues or has a transgender friend.

Whatever it is, that was so kind of her, and wonderful for you!

Since I'm only partially transmale, I dress androgynously, but my general behavior and attitude usually gets me correctly gendered anyway, at least in Thailand.

Thanks for sharing that sweet experience.  How wonderful to have that validation and underlying understanding that we all deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.
