Big day tomorrow

Hey everyone,

So tomorrow is a big day for multiple reasons...

First, it is the last day of my first quarter back in in school. Only 3 more to go. Then I can start earning the big bucks to finish my transition.

Second, is my therapy intake appointment. I'm nervous about this one. I don't like talking about myself. So, this maybe be uncomfortable. But I'm not going to turn back. I can do this.

Believe it or not the therapy intake appointment isn't as bad as you think. It is actually really reassuring in many ways. I think you will find yourself far more relaxed once you get going then you realize. Congrats on being back in school. You will do fine and before you know it you will be on your way with therapy. Congrats on starting therapy. I absolutely love my therapist. I'm a weekly subscriber lol. It lets you vent your frustrations in the last period of time. I think now my therapist and I spend half our time just chatting about both our families. She's old enough to be my mom and I think sometimes expresses worry about me like I was one of her kids. :) I have become a lot more comfortable expressing pieces of myself as of late, even in my small town community. That in itself is a major improvement towards my personal transition that I could have not done without going to therapy.

Congratulations! Best of luck. You may find that you do like to talk a lot about yourself once you get comfortable with your therapist. I know I did :)

Oh My Gosh!!!! Thank you so much everyone! All of your encouragement helped give me the courage to go to my appointment. I was so relieved at the end to hear that I do in fact suffer from gender dysphoria and that I am in fact a trans woman.

Good luck Alora.

If you are yourself, honest and comfortable then there is nothing to worry about. Don't hold back, say what's on your mind/heart and everything will be fine. You have nothing "prove".

Well done, Alora!  Walking into that first session can be hard.  Walking out after 50 minutes of baring one's soul feels... different, lighter somehow.

You've taken some great steps here.  Congratulations!

My personal transition path included medical changes.  The path others take may require no medical intervention, or different care.  We each find our own path. I provide these dates for the curious.

      All the best Alora. Don't worry about the therapy session. Its difficult when you start, but as the session progresses, you will start feeling comfortable.
      I had my first session 10 days ago. What worked for me was to think of the therapist as a friend.
     Also, don't prepare what you are going to say to your therapist. It just doesn't work well. Be spontaneous, don't hide anything.

I just wanted to share this update. Friday I found out who my new therapist is going to be and I have my first actual appointment on Wednesday. I actually excited for Wednesday to come.
