curious   as to weather others are definitely planning to have facial surgery or just go with what you already have.

Not planning it but not ruling it out.  Won't start hormones for 3 months yet so never know. Same with breast augmentation.  Hoping not to need but not ruling it out.

I plan on getting FFS. I didn't really plan on doing so for the longest time, but I have the means of doing so now and think I'd be happier with it

How is it not natural to have FFS when your surgeon main task is to revert T damage and make sure you get the most natural look possible ( no plastic look) . No one can tell I had FFS unless I tell them . IMO what testosterone did with puberty for those who started 18+ is what is not natural .

Im going out with no makeup . Isn't this being natural ?

Originally, no. Over the past several months, though, I've been reconsidering this.

I've been doing electrolysis to improve my appearance. I've come to consider FFS as another key step to make it possibly for others to accept that I am a woman.

I'm not comfortable being the token transwoman in a group. I'd like to move beyond that. I'm not planning on living stealth or some such, but I'd rather not be so damn obvious that I'm being introduced to others as a transwoman. [emoji45]

My personal transition path included medical changes.  The path others take may require no medical intervention, or different care.  We each find our own path. I provide these dates for the curious.

I agree with archlord.  Getting FFS done has made me look more like the way I should have been without the damage from T.  I can go out without makeup, a totally "natural" look, and still be easily gendered as female.  What could be more natural than that?  I understand what the original post meant, but the word choice could have been better.  Implying that having FFS is "not natural" is, in some ways, insulting.  IMO it's what nature should have done in the first place.

I probably won't. I don't particularly dislike my face now.  And even if my avatar doesn't look it I can go out now and be gendered female most of the time without makeup and dressed in drab.  My big limitation is my voice rather than my face.

I have yet to see where life takes me. FFS is pretty low on my list...

I think its usually super important to wait till you've been on hormones for at least 2-3 years (unless you have some feature of bone structure that is soo incredibly prominent that you know it will need correcting, like a humongous chin that's prominent for even a man or something)

I thought I would need FFS but after being on hormones for 11 months, I can safely say I do not think I need it.
(but again, thats just me)

Also a lot of FFS surgeons have a kind of "dogma" around it where they all say "let's obliterate that jaw and lower that hairline), but a lot of incredibly beautiful women have prominent/square chins and jaws and high hairlines (Think angelina jolie or kristen davis) (and also the hairline may lower on hrt and chin/jaw will def soften/round a little)

and also, even the nose can change its appearance in a minimal way with hormones (i've found my nose looks a tad less bulbous)

Wait till the soft tissue has really shifted. Similar to breast augmentation you will get better FFS results if you and your surgeon can see already what your face will look like. I have seen some bad cases where girls with resources get intense FFS done like a year or 6 months into transition and the soft tissue shifts so that they now look like they have no bones!

the obviously male features (a prominent brow bone for instance) may become less noticeable too! however, if after 3 years your brow bone is significant than I think that can definitely be shaved down (though you have to think about the new forehead in relation to the nose and all the other features). But so much about the face might change.

If you do get it, my advice (after researching this for months)

Don't go to Zukowski!

Preferably go to a plastic surgeon who also is certified in cranio facial and/or maxilo facial surgery (and maybe dentistry if they will be working on your jaw/chin!)

ideally you would see imaging beforehand (preferably 3-d), to give a rough estimate of what you'll see

Depending on how much work you need done it might be best to work incrementally. If you absolutely can't stand your nose but are sort of ok with other stuff then go to a surgeon who really Specializes in natural rhinoplasty first maybe. (then you could see an ffs surgeon to bring other features in alignment if necessary)

and with all of these surgeons if you feel like you just "don't like them", or that they are not treating you in an individualized way that's not good! (I waited 4 months to see Dr. Harrison Lee for a consult which was 10 minutes!) BE VOCAL about what you do and DON'T want with them and also find a way to reach out to patients who have seen them and get pictures from them not just the office

Also remember, you are already, always beautiful!

If I can save the money. Definitely. Problem is I need way more than that right now. I am hoping the breasts will continue to grow at or close to the same rate as they are now so I won't have to do them.

I plan to stay natural but if I marry rich I'll get FFS
Arch lord: your way makes sense if you look at it that way but natural is not man made. FFS is a form of beauty, but it's not natural.

i got ffs with spiegel after 10 months hrt. i'm now 10 weeks post op and already look a lot better. i disagree about waiting for years, if you can afford it. you're only young once, don't spend your best years hating your face just to save a few dollars

Moon, making statements like this is in really bad taste.  You are smearing the name of a surgeon with whom you have no personal experience.  Dr Zukowski has done a lot for the transgender community (and not just surgery).

I had FFS with Dr Zukowski, and I'm thrilled with the results.  I have also met, in person, several others who had FFS with him, and they're also very happy.  One of them is a doctor herself and could afford any surgeon in the world, but went to Zukowski because she trusted him.  I also have several other friends who I haven't yet met in person, but with whom I've been in regular contact with who also had FFS with Dr Z and are happy with the outcome.

Does that mean Dr Zukowski is the best surgeon?  No, I wouldn't say that.  There isn't a single "best" FFS surgeon.  The best surgeon for you might be different than the best surgeon for someone else.  There are many happy women who had FFS with a variety of surgeons.  And the fact is, EVERY surgeon, no matter how respected and praised, has had his share of bad outcomes.  Personally, I think it's fine to share opinions on surgeons, but making blanket statements such as "Don't go to Zukowski" does more harm than good.  In fact, it's quite irresponsible and frankly damages your own credibility.  Let's be better than that, ok?

Don't go to Zukowski!

Why?

I thought that it's against the TOS to discuss surgeon's in a negative way? Simply because they cannot respond and defend their case because of patient confidentiality, and to prevent associates of surgeons signing up and starting flame wars, and inflict reputation damage.

To balance this topic: I've seen marvelous results by Zukowski. Raiden Quinn is one of them.

There is no valid reason to warn against certain surgeons. A patient should seek remedy in court, not a forum. To prevent escalation I will not discuss this further. But I wanted to point it out.
