Hello all! Today has been a pretty exciting day for me as something I didn't expect to happen for a few more years at least has happened as I've been officially put on the waiting list for GRS at Boston Medical Center. For those that don't know in 2015 it was announced that Boston MA would soon be getting surgeons to perform GRS as to my knowledge the closest Surgeon to New England is in Pennsylvania I believe. Also in 2015 my insurance started covering BA and GRS as well. After getting some info from the health center that I have my medical checkups I was told that it's not required to have fully met all the requirements for GRS to be put on the waitlist and was given a number to call/register and as of today am registered! The 2 surgeons who are performing the surgery seem to be Dr. Oates and Dr. Slama. I had read threads earlier this year about people wondering how they were as they are new to the field and considering I only have one shot at the surgery I'd be lying if I didn't say I was worried but my health insurance wont approve out of state surgeons. On the plus side it does mean easy/less expensive travel and I was told that they are booked currently until July of 2017 as they are only doing 2 surgeries a month at the moment but plan to eventually go to 4 a month, was also told that there's a good change I'd be able to have it in late 2017 which is certainly long after I'll have completed all the requirements as I already have proper people for my letters and it's just the 1 year HRT which will be complete May 20th 2017!
Sorry for my wall of text and while nervous at eventually having my surgery by new doctors I'm just really thankful and happy that my dream of not being completely disgusted by parts that shouldn't be there could be fixed in a years time!
