Please please please if you see this, suggest a sensible name that I could change to now that I identify as a male because I really need some suggestions.

There are a number of web sites that have baby names from the year that you were born. I picked my name long before the internet but I check my name in one of the sites and it was used the year I was born. It wasn't very popular but I am comfortable with a somewhat rare name. If the name isn't used, just let a moderator know and we will change your screen name if you want to use that name on the site.

If your given name is "Erin" (I'm inferring from your username), and you still like it somewhat, you could consider "Aaron." They sound similar but have different origins and meanings.

I just wanted to keep my initials all the same. So I looked for names popular in my birth year that started with M. Max wasn't anywhere near the top of the list, and the particular derivative of it I chose is even less popular, but I think it's a good fit.

What's important to you in a name? It's hard to give a list without knowing much about you.

I think it's best to choose a name that suits your personality. I'm not very fem or masculine so chose a name that's a bit inbetween. It was also important to me my name wasn't too common as my birth was which was irritating. But not too unusual that I'll be asked loads of awkward questions about it. I don't think a name feels like it's 100% perfect or it's good to obsessively go other lists to find one. It's better to simply come across one, like how it sounds and grow into it.

You're gonna hear the new name day in day out so choose one you actually like.

Anyway, I chose the boy names, and went through lists like the top 100 names and things like that. They let you pick lists by the first letter, the meaning you want, or even a specific ethnic group.

I scanned through hundreds of names and made a list on a piece of paper of the ones I liked. Eventually one just kind of popped out at me and I was like "that's it, that's my name." If one doesn't just pop out, think about each of the names on the list for a while, think about how it would feel to be called it, that sort of thing. You'll narrow it down and eventually find one that you like and fits who you are.

Don't rush it though, you have to live with the name for the rest of your life, so take the time to find one that really fits.

Aaron, Eric and Michael would be all sensible options for you. Hugs

There are times when I still think of names I like and didn't consider before legally changing my name to what it is now. I looked up the meanings of names I liked and wanted a good meaning. I even chose a name common in the countries of my ethnic origin. I think you should consider all those things in choosing a name- the sound, spelling,meaning, and if it's important that it matches your cultural background, or some religious significance.

My middle name was a less popular name in the USA, but matched my cultural background and was the name of a favorite childhood author that I liked.
