I look at myself in the mirror and I get pretty depressed because I am nothing like what I used to look like. I am 42 years old and I just wish that I was in better shape. I just recently started doing sit ups and push ups nightly but I don't think that is going to do much or I won't see any difference for awhile.

Does anyone know of any good things to get rid of a fat butt and a fat stomach? I don't have access to weights or a gym at the moment. I will start to ski more and will lose weight that way but I was just curious if anyone knows of something that I could do before bed that would help me lose some weight?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has any links they could share with me please just send me a private message with those links. Thanks

benefiber and a lot of water i would not suggest to over do it, but it does not have the same ingredients as diet pills. it is just extra fiber in your diet the main thing is as much water as you can drink. i take a little in the morning and evening though i will not indefinitely.

i have had weight issues in the past mostly from working out and over eating to bulk up, but then i would stop working out and keep eating LOL. it can be tough to lose weight but a good diet and a lot of water is all you really need. i am just trying to get to my natural with no weights or over eating.

I have started like two weeks ago doing sit ups before bed and at first I would do like 20 before going to bed and now I am up to 25 to 30 a night and I am gradually seeing a change but I have a long way to go but I will get there. I have looked at some butt work outs but they are all so different but I have to find one and just do it. For now I just buy lots of female clothes that are Plus Size and they seem to work and once I do get into shape they might just end up being too big for me lol.

hi, it is ironic that i've been searching for more information on CD/TG after hitting the gym and here is a relevant topic.  nothing will help you better for losing weight than hitting the gym and weightlifting.  you cannot target parts of your body for weight loss, just like you cannot target the body for fat gain.  if you want to lose weight, there are several things you can do.  they are all simple but the are hard:

1)  food diary.  be honest with yourself and catalog what you eat, when you eat it and how much you eat.  this will tell you how much you are overeating by and give you good ideas of how to trim back on the diet.  my big sin was having 1-2 beers a day (as a sleep aid) and eating chips too much.

2)  weight lifting.  i follow a powerlifting program, but you can do a bodybuilding program too.  not only will you burn fat and gain muscle and strength doing this, but if you balance out your calories, you'll mostly just strengthen and tone the muscles you have while burning fat.  you won't see much or any growth doing this method.

3) cardio.  this will assist in removing the weight and breaking through weight loss plateaus.  cardio alone, or cardio and dieting, is a one way ticket to regaining all the fat back.  the reason why is that cardio not only burns calories immediately, but it improves your body's metabolic efficiency, which leads to a lower required metabolic daily demand for calories.  you will then have to increase your cardio and drop your calories more to see additional weight loss.  but your body still expects more calories because of leptin and ghrelin, which control satiety.  when you do weight lifting, you burn calories while lifting, more calories while repairing the muscle damage, and since you are putting on muscle, your metabolic demand goes up.  lifting weights is also a massive cardio demand on the body.

the beautiful part of weightlifting is you can tone and sculpt your body without having to put on tons of weight.  you won't look jacked unless you eat big and lift heavy for years.  if you get strong enough to lift your body weight, you will still be able to have a more feminine physique.

what i am doing right now is a simple power lifting routine.  i do 20x squats, all in a row without re-racking the weights.  then i do either the deadlift, bench press or overhead press for 5 sets of 5 reps, followed by 1-2 assistance exercises like barbell rows, pull ups, dips, cross bench pull-overs, etc.

i squat everyday, this is the single best exercise.  it will transform your body more than anything else.  you will gain perfect legs and a juicy butt if you have perfect routine.

I shed almost 50kg by doing the following:

- Cut out all excess sugar in my diet (no soft drinks/bottled juice, no cakes / sweets, no sugar in my coffee etc.)
- Cut out almost all dairy in my diet (cheese, milk, switched to espressos instead of cappuccinos etc..)
- Reduced how much meat I eat. Only eat fish or chicken couple times per week at most.
- I lead almost completely vegetarian diet
- Cardio Cardio Cardio (I go running / bush walking / swimming 3 - 4 times a week)
- Yoga / Tai Chi (Stretching is IMPORTANT)
- Stopped almost all weight training (except squats, for obvious reasons)

Just to reiterate. Changes in eating habits had an almost instant impact. Just by switching to espressos and cutting out soft drinks I already saw significant weight changes after just one week.

Also the dairy aspect is due to me developing a lactose intolerance at the age of 31... ridiculous.

There are lots of fill workout routines using nothing more than body weight.  Walking is free,  and a change in eating habits can never go wrong.   Note I said "change in eating habits" and not "diet".

I have a problem with excess fat around my navel and my hips. I saw something on the internet that said men who put weight on in those areas are more prone to heart disease. And guess what? Last year I had coronary artery triple by-pass.
Several months before the surgery my doctor had me cease all work outs. He was afraid I would have a heart attack. I lost a lot of muscle size. When I used to flex my chest muscles, my pects were like a hard ball. Now they are soft and resemble a woman's breasts. (that bothers me, somewhat). I am working out again, doing 100 leg raises and 200 crunches. I'm up to running 1 1/2 miles now. I do all sorts of cardio and weight training excercises. I am 6 ft. tall and 180 lbs. Still can't seem to lose the fat.
One thing some of you might try is the old hoola-hoop. I use mine daily. It's a good and fun workout.
Good luck to you all who are fighting the fat. Don't give up.

Hi Joanna. Not sure exactly what I am looking for here. But I am interested in and compassionate to other people's experiences. I like to inject a little bit of humor, once in awhile. But I promise to be good.

I have been doing lots of skiing at work downhill and that seems to be helping out some and then I do lots of snow work as in shoveling and that doesn't hurt either and I am starting to get thinned down a bit, not what I really want to look like but I am gradually getting to that point, baby steps!
