Men more concerned about trans women using bathrooms, study finds

http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2016/12/28/men-more-concerned-about-trans-women-using-bathrooms-study-finds/

Pink News/By Bobby Rae 28th December 2016, 11:51 AM

"A new study has revealed men are more concerned than women about trans women using the bathroom that corresponds with their gender identity.
The report states that men's concerns seem to be linked to a historic view of being a female protector and that trans people are "lying" about their gender identity. "

Speaking from a dual gender viewpoint, I know that men who dress and behave/walk like females attract my male side as much as cis females do. Perhaps male alarm arises from a secret fear of being "gay" so they blame the males and attack them.

Studies show that ALL homophobic males are gay.

I've always wondered about that, it makes sense, especially when they go on about some mysterious "gay agenda" like cosmic force - talk about being ultra paranoid.  I always get a kick when they insist it is a choice, and I ask if they have that choice.  It seems to flabbergast them.

I spend a lot of my free time on yahoo news, setting things straight.  It is like a haven of bigotry there, it is sort of a training ground for me, where I can hear all of the hate, and know what to anticipate.  The way some of these people go on, they believe it is a huge conspiracy.

I'm guessing it may be a matter of time before homophobics and transphobics are considered mentally ill.

The more homophobic they are the more likely they are gay.

Alas, this article/study displays all the hallmarks of "fake news."  I've never yet seen a study based on real science and research that proved ALL of ANY group share the same characteristics in the same way.  Human variability just doesn't work that way.  (Actually, we ourselves at this site are living proof of that!)

The point is well-taken, however.  In my experience, the most pathologically homophobic men tend to be those with very troubled/threatened masculinity issues.  The frantic energy they put into trying to control other peoples' sex lives arises from their own internal fears and anxieties.  A classic example of what psychologists call projection or displacement.

I don't see why which restroom you use should be such a big deal.  Just make them all unisex multi-user with private stalls and a common sink area.

The articles say that all self-proclaimed homophobic men hooked to machines were responding sexually to male gay porn and naked bodies, but they were usually unaware of it.

People are on a sexual spectrum, the same as everyone is on a gender identity spectrum. In surveys where people were guaranteed anonymity, up to 85% of respondents admitted being sexually attracted to same-sex people in various percentages..2% of the time, 13% of the time, etc.

Few, however had acted on their attraction, or "come out" as gay. It's just that the current evangelic Christian religious view is that same sex attraction is "evil" so most people suppress, or ignore any feelings of attraction, the same as husbands and boyfriends learn to suppress reactions to other women.

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, young people were often like the Asians, with few distinctions between between gay, bi, or hetero love. People routinely had mass orgies between friends, with little concern for the gender of people involved, as the movie Zoolander spoofed so well!

From the article you linked:

"Just recently, there was a report about a Harvard study stating that all homophobic people are actually gay. In the said report, there was a double-blind study conducted in the course of 5 years that involved nearly 5,000 people. It even quoted the American Psychological Association saying that the study is 'scientifically irrefutable.'

* * *

"We tried to search for the study in Harvard's Center for Brain Science website and found that the study does not exist."

The other articles you link to refer to other studies (not the bogus "Harvard" one - "All Homophobic People Are Gay") and use language much more consistent with the results of actual research.  ("More Likely to be Gay."  "May be Hidden Homosexuals," "Are They Homosexuals and not Accepting It?", etc.)

But your point is still well taken.

Working in construction ive seen first hand in the last 10 years the change in societys priorities with regards to the mens room. Its common practice now for the mens room to be built with a divider between urinals. The common term for them being (homophobic slur) walls. As far as we like to think weve come as a society, we allow for this one gigantic step backwards. The most heinous thing 'men' (and I use that term loosely since no one behaving this way has done any growing up) have to fear in public washrooms is someone looking at their member...

For contexts sake, this is in Canada. North Americas make believe land of tolerance.
