I looked online and it said it would affect your levels if you get them tested too soon after taking your pills

With Pills, it's 24 hours after your last dosage.

I take tablets orally 2 times per day, and I've been told by my doctor to get blood drawn when I am due to but before I take my next dose. In my case, I get blood drawn in the morning after I have fasted all night, then I take my morning dose of HRT after. The idea is that they want to measure your levels at their lowest point. When in doubt, ask your doctor. 

So I have to skip a dose?

No, just get the blood drawn in the morning before you take your usual dose..
