A lot of these are due to the toxic masculinity that Elis mentioned.
- Men make up the majority of the homeless population, drug/alcohol addicts, and people who have committed suicide.
- Men are significantly more likely to be victims of murder, robbery, assault, police killings, genocide, and hate crimes (esp. gay men).
- Men are more likely to be seen as abusive in relationships, for actions that female partners would not likely be seen as abusive for doing.
- Men on average receive longer prison sentences and are more likely to be sentenced in the first place when considering other factors like crime committed and criminal history.
- Men are seen as disposable. Remember the public campaigning for awareness about missing/killed Aboriginal women in Canada? Aboriginal men are murdered at 2x the rate, and go missing 4-5x the rate of women in Canada.
- Men have a lower life expectancy, not due to biology (as evidenced by the German Austrian Cloister Study of monks and nuns) but due to work stress leading to heart issues, less social support, greater likelihood for substance abuse, and a reduced rate of access and use of healthcare.
- Men are more likely than women to be injured at work, and exceptionally more likely than women to die at work.
- Men lack reproductive rights and are at the mercy of whatever choice their partner makes regarding parenthood. Had an accident and your partner wants to keep the baby? Tough luck, there goes all your money. Had an accident and your partner doesn't want to keep the baby but you do? Tough luck, you can't stop her from having an abortion or adopting off your kid.
- Men experience a higher rate of financial consequence in divorce than women in terms of child support and alimony.
- There are still places in the world that define rape as something that cannot be done to a man.
- Circumcision.
