I'm scheduled for SRS with Dr Chettawut on November 6, 2017.  I know it's a long ways off still, but I figured I'd start a post now anyway.  :)

I have a friend who's going to accompany me for the trip, so we're going to be staying in a 2-bedroom suite at The Vertical Suite.  If anyone else is going to be there (or in the other nearby hotels) in November, let me know!  It'd be fun to meet a fellow forum member!

Also, a question for those of you who have already had SRS with Chettawut... how long should I stay?  My friend and I have the freedom to go whenever and stay as long as we like.  Should I get to Bangkok like a week before my surgery and do some sightseeing?  I've flown to Asia several times (from the US), and it usually takes me a full day to get over the jet lag...

And what about after the surgery?  Is 25 days enough time, or do you wish you had more recovery days to get better before you had to get on a flight back home?  I'm thinking about getting a 60-day visa and staying longer if I feel like it would be helpful (probably not the full 60 days though, lol).

Thanks everyone!

Congrats!!
I started a countdown around the 1 year mark. You'd be surprised how fast it goes.
You've got oodles of time to buy extra supplies - I stocked up on lube, pads...etc from a medical supply store. Way cheaper than shopping at say Costco or WalMart.

Hello

Give yourself at least 25-30 days in Bangkok before you add in any sightseeing.  It's certainly worth planning a few days of sightseeing before you get into Chett's rather challenging liquid diet and cleansing routine which will consume around 4 days and could leave you feeling a bit week.

My feeling is that 25 days after the surgery are more than enough.  Chett seems to get things right (or very close) the first time, so as long as you listen to Sri (his brilliant head nurse) and take things easy, you will be more than ready enough to fly.

On the subject of flying, do try to get a direct flight home if possible, and certainly a seat you can recline almost fully.  This will allow you to avoid putting the external stitching under stress, and it is a lot more comfortable if you find sitting a bit of a challenge.

And enjoy the experience - Chett and his team were fantastic during my visit:  serious, kind, gentle, massively experienced, and very friendly.  We often had tea when they came round for the daily checkups and it made the day so much better for all of us!

Julia!

My goodness, I never expected to see your screen name on Susan's again. What a pleasant surprise!

You were one of my favorite posters when I first started coming to this site.  One by one, people finished their transition... and left, but I have noticed a few old-timers returning (Nina is another kind veteran come to help us kids, lol). I am glad you are back.

(Sorry, Emily, for hijacking your thread!)

With kindness,

Terri

Maybe I'll plan to stay for 35 days total, lol.  That would give me a few days to go sightseeing and enjoy the local cuisine before I need to start the liquid diet.  And I'd still have a full 25 days for recovery.  Does that sound ok?

I'm not too worried about the return flight, as I'll be flying business class and be able to lie down for the whole trip.  I haven't booked the flights yet, but I'm currently looking at EVA Airways.  I've never flown with them though.  Anyone have any experience with that airline?

Hi there Terri

I was dipping in from time to time to see whether anybody had something more complex to discuss, and recently there have been a few, so I popped in again.  Hope you're doing well!!!
