Anyone who dosnt know I'm 1 year on hormones. Anyway,  So today I noticed my nipples have gotten smaller, but my breasts  are still growing. Is this a normal? To me they would just get bigger and not smaller.

It is difficult to say what your situation is. We all expect changes in our breasts while on HRT. I would not be overly concerned unless my nipples got really small over the next several months.

In my situation, my nipples and breasts just grew at the same rate.

Sometimes what we see as our reflection in the mirror is not always what other people see.

If you want to, take a measurement once a week with a tape measure or caliper over several months and see if the changes go up and down or do they just constantly decrease. After several months of once a week measurements a pattern should come clear. If they steadily decrease, talk to your endocrinologist.

Are you taking Progesterone as well? I found it grew he nipples and areole more after 12 months! My endo put me on Progesterone when I reported a similar observation!

Trouble is, it hasn't happened yet!

Nipples being less puffy is part of the maturing of the breast; the puffy nipples stage is supposed to gradually change to the nipples becoming part of the contour of the breast again. (Some women, cis and trans, have puffy nipples forever, but that's less common.) Also, don't forget that the bigger they are, the more they will seem to visibly contract when hard/erect - tiny nipples don't change much, because there isn't much there to tighten up. So you should expect them to look distinctly bigger or smaller depending on temperature, stimulation, etc. (Pre-HRT, I could barely tell if my nipples were hard; now, they shrink by about 2/3 when they're erect [though they do project more, obviously].) It sounds like what's happening is that you're actually advancing into the next stage of development, which is good.

My nips change in puffiness according to my e levels, it could be that or what Jenna said.

Mine change by the hour depending on temp and level of physical activity; and the phase of the moon. I wouldnt worry.  I guess my boobs are abnormally "moody".
At what point did my life go Looney Tunes? How did it happen? Who's to blame?... Batman, that's who. Batman! It's always been Batman! Ruining my life, spoiling my fun! >:-)

Ill share a recent fun/odd/new body story.  Since things keep changing and I am mostly unsure of all of it...on my last Dr appointment I asked my GP (female) to check my chest.  It was a quick breast exam, but it made me feel WAY better when she said, yep everything feels pretty much as I would expect!

The whole process honestly takes years - so hang in there. I do think being on micronised progesterone did help me in the first few years, though. I know it's tough since you notice the changes a lot more when you first get going, but get on a decent regimen and hang in there and it will be ok in the end. :)

Are the areolas smaller comparative to the breasts as a whole or absolutely?

Girls - our nipples will ebb and flow and like some are temperature controlled. All good stuff and signs. Hugs Shannon

Hi Angelique,

The changes you are describing could be a normal transition into breast maturity. It sounds very much like the transition from Tanner scale IV to Tanner scale V. Your doctor should be able to explain just what is happening to you in your journey.

I'm new here as a member and have been reading the forums quite a bit to glean insights from others regarding my own journey. One thing that has surprised me here is the lack of references to the Tanner Scale as regards to breast growth. It surprises me as it it one of the accepted standards sited to rate breast growth in cis girls undergoing puberty  and is also applicable to trans-women as this is what we are essentially doing.
For those interested in the Tanner scale it is readily available by a simple internet search.

    I hope this helps someone

No shortage of information on the Tanner Scale here. Site search turns it up numerous times, or you can go straight to our Wiki:

Come to think of it Devlyn I believe I did see that reference while looking in the nooks and crannies. As I said I'm new here and still investigating the site's resources. I was mainly referring to the responses I am seeing in the forums in reference to questions regarding transition events and development. Sorry

Ya, it's tricky navigating the site at first. The search engine looks in the area you're in, whether that be a thread, subforum, or if you're on the index page, the whole site is searched. Google works well, but can't show you things from private areas. When you absolutely can't find something, call out the Devlyn B2 Detection Unit! That'll find it!

It's the needle in a hay stack problem and we have a pretty big haystack. Often just when I think I know pretty much everything, somebody digs up a nerco thread and there is something I haven't seen before. There is around 10 years of posting that took place before I joined the site so I am sure there will be no lack of surprises like that in the future.
