Just wanted to introduce myself and tell you a breif story about me.  I am a 35 year old MTF.  Iwas married for 7 years and have to boys,8 and 5.  I was a boat mechanic for 12 years and had to leave that profession when I decided to transition.  It wasn't the best working enviroment for what I chose to do.  I decided to transition after my marriage ended.  She isn't real happy with it and needless to say we don't talk much anymore.  My boys are very cool with what I'm doing.  They just wanted to know if I would still be able to do some of the Dad stuff, no prob.  My parents seem to be ok with it also.  My mother has become my best friend and advocate.  My father just wanted to know how to put this in the family tree.  He's a geneology freak.  All in all life is good, just wonder why I waited so long to do this!

I've been in HRT for a year and a half and living full-time as Jessi for a year on Valentines Day.  The time is just flying by.  I work full-time and have been with the same company since before I went to work as Jessi.  Work has been very good to me also.  They are curious how it works and are just as excited as me to see the final outcome.  I decided to move from the Lake in October and now live in St. Louis, MO.  The atmosphere seems to be better here.  I'm still with the same company just in a different local.  Well, thats a brief story of my life.  I hope the best for all who take this journey beside me.  Thanks for having a site that I can finally relate with.

Hello, Jessi, and welcome to Susan's!

It sounds to me that you have all of your bases covered, or at least the ones that matter to you, and congratulations on doing so well.

Be well, stay well, and remember that there is a lot of collective wisdom in these Forums.

Hi Jessi. Always great to see a new face (so to speak...) at Susans. Hope to share many conversations. You'll have to tell me how you manage to get your workplace to accept things in stride - that would be a neat skill...

Hi Jessi. Always great to see a new face (so to speak...) at Susans. Hope to share many conversations. You'll have to tell me how you manage to get your workplace to accept things in stride - that would be a neat skill...

Well, I started by going to HR and told her my situatio.  She seemed to be very understanding and asked if she should tell the rest of the employees.  I simply said no thank you.  This is my choice and it's my responsibility to tell them.  She seemed to find that very acceptable.  Key I think there is not to pawn that off on somebody else to do.  I then went around one on one with all the other employees.  It took about two weeks to hit everyone and discuss it.  I gave everybody the chance to ask questions..I found out that the more they know about it the less their affraid of it.  After I told everyone, I noticed that a lot of them came up to me and told me that they appreciated the fact that I told them one on one.  No awkwardness or at least very little was felt by any of them.  In my oppinion, I earned their respect which made the first day as Jessi a whole lot easier, still nervous though, one can never tell.  Since then I have gained so many new friends at work.  Another thing was is I didn't overdue the make-up and such.  I just wanted to blend in and not stand out all that much.  I hope this helps.  I can't say that it will work for you but it seemed to for me.  Good luck
