"My aforementioned girlfriend, Mia Elora, who is also on Susan's (I've permission to mention her by name), had a negative experience with it. For her, it felt like the hairs were being yanked out at the skin level rather than being tweezed, and the hair grew back within a couple days."

Yeah, for me the epilator just managed to remove less than half of the hair.  The rest of the hair broke at slightly above the surface of the skin.  As with everything and everyone, though, YMMV.  (Your Mileage May Vary)

I'm just glad it's working well for Vervain.   :-*

Hi All,

There are a lot of emotions in play when it comes to the subject of being seen in the way we want to be seen... The fight to make ourselves seen by others, in the way we want, is a huge part of this journey.... How we view our success in this endeavor can make the difference between it being an amazing journey or a descent into misery

I think the OP or mods might want to consider a thread title change to something more like " I'm looking for constructive ideas on improving my look"... I know that is a bit of a band aid approach but it might set a little different tone than subjective judgements concerning how closely we pass as something we are not.... Cis women... In the end, all we truly need to pass as is ourselves... Females!!! :)

Females with love in their hearts... ready to help their sisters who request help... and do so in a loving way

Onward we go brave sisters

Ashley :)

"The individual has always had to struggle from being overwhelmed by the tribe... But, no price is too high for the privilege of owning yourself" ... Rudyard Kipling 🌸

Let go of the things that no longer serve you... Let go of the pretense of the false persona, it is not you... Let go of the armor that you have worn for a lifetime, to serve the expectations of others and, to protect the woman inside... She needs protection no longer.... She is tired of hiding and more courageous than you know... Let her prove that to you....Let her step out of the dark and feel the light upon her face.... amg🌸

Hey Vervain, I'll take you up on the cookies  ;)

Anyway I appreciate the honest opinions. I've been working on the shadow with a home IPL for a while. It's actually a WHOLE lot thinner than it used to be if you can believe it.

By jawline do you mean my chin? To me that stands out the most.

Ashley, I'll try a smile the next time I update my avatar. You are so right about being on a although to a happier life.

Ashley, I totally agree with renaming the thread.
Having a question like "do I pass?" Has three outcomes: yes, no, yes with a little help.
No one wants to hear they don't pass, but if it were me, I would want to hear from those who have lived full time for at least a couple years. I wouldn't want advice from someone who's never presented in public yet. In the end, isn't living full time or presenting in public the real test?

Thank goodness I have a thick exterior. While I've never been outed, I do take constructive criticism for what it is - to help me.

Amazing things await you Josie!!! :)

When You're Smiling
Dean Martin
Lyrics
When you're smilin', when you're smilin'
The whole world smiles with you
When you're laughin', oh when you're laughin'
The sun comes shinin' through

Life is short sisters... What we do and the things we take on just to make our lives what we need them to be can be so overwhelming at times... Don't forget to not fixate on the destination so much that you miss the amazing aspects of the process of your transition from your old life to a life that is truly your own... Enjoy the ride!!!...and when you are feeling that where you want to be is still a far and difficult journey.., remember to look behind you and marvel at how far you have already come...

For those here just starting out their journey.. This path is an ever evolving series of revelations about your past, your present, your connection to others, your place in the world and the road ahead... However you picture things now... Things will likely b a bit different... In many ways better if, you are open to all that is to come... Move forward with confidence... Knowing you have a place in this world just like everyone else

Be gentle with yourself, be gentle with others and get out there and mix it up with the rest of life... That's what it's all about... In the end, all that really matters is our loving connections with others in this world... Ok... Getting off my soapbox now...

Onward we go brave sisters,

Ashley :)

maybe a bit unorthodox but does my voice pass? im still nervous to use it in public around strangers. I figure it should be okay to post here since voice is considered part of your appearance, but just in case it's not here a dress pic too

wayyy too much black eyeliner  around the eyes. Next time don't do it in the middle part, only use black eyeliner on the top, don't put eyeliner on your waterline, and if you need to put black on the bottom lid I suggest eyeshadow; it's less harsh. In my opinion the way you have it makes you look like a gothic boy. If you only went halfway with it it would make a big difference.

This is great advice about the waterline! I don't normally use more than just eye shadow and lip gloss but I know I've made this mistake!

Another nice (popular)option is to use a white eyeliner in your waterline and inside corner, really opens the eye up.

Hi girlfriends  :icon_chick:

No-one's in trouble, just a reminder

As you all probably already know, there are several makeup looks and styles and what works for you may not work quite as well for someone else or the look they're going for

So whether you are going Goth, Tramp, Supermodel, Rock Star, Country Girl, Drowned Beach Babe (Me) or one of many other styles...

Let's make sure we're giving constructive and helpful advice

Smiles and Hugs

Love you all

The main things to remember in life are Love, Kindness, Understanding and Respect - Always make forward progress

Superficial fanny kissing friends are a dime a dozen, a TRUE FRIEND however is PRICELESS

Hiya,
I dunno what to say but here's an awkward mirror pic of me

i'm just kinda straight up wondering how I look. I haven't been on hormones for too long and I'm new to the whole "fashion sense" thing.

:police: Topic locked for clean up.

Things have gotten heated and yes some rudeness.

I am going to go in and edit a few posts and delete a few posts. This may take me a while as I can not do just moderation full time. I will open this topic back up when I am done.

While one needs thick skin to do what many of us are doing and to accept constructive criticism, judgements on personal opinions do not make them fact.

I will try to contact all who's post's I adjust or remove. As is always the case, if anyone has problems and feels unfairly treated with and by my actions; you are welcome to discuss it with Cindy or Susan.

Sincerely,

Joanna

Folks, as many have said, this is a topic that can get very personal. Please be aware of that when posting for comment and when commenting. As long as it is an opinion and it is with respect and not hostile we are all good.

No one here has an empirical truth as to what looks good, what doesn't  and who passes 100% of the time.

We are here to help each other.

I do not plan to re name this topic as it has existed for multiple generations as it is. It is one of the more brutal topics to bravely post into(notice, I have not posted here- I am too chicken) ;). There are other topics that are more welcoming along a similar style. As always, feel free to start a new topic.

Now. The lecture is done. Let's all be careful out there. There can be enough aggression in the world around us. Let's encourage each other here.

With warmth,

Joanna

Korra-

sorry idk how to multi quote so don't feel left out by my general comment!  thanks all!! it really means a lot to know my smile is okay it was giving me a lot if anxiety and I woukd often refrain from smiling bc if it. ill keep working toward becoming confident and secure in it going forward!

@andracass you dont look bad at all, and i love the outfit it serously looks stylish. I do think your face needs some more time for hrt to soften it up and add a little fat in the right areas. If you don't mind me saying you're in the feminine guy zone (sorry no offense intended!) right now and over the course of the next about 7 months or so your features will slowly drift toward androgynous. While you're waiting on the painfully slow process (I hated waiting too and would think every day hurry up already darn it) to do its thing try practicing a bit with makeup and getting your eyebrows arched and cleaned up. Arched eyebrows go a very long way in making your face appear more feminine. Sephora is a great place to learn because the makeup artists give you all the help you need and are very trans friendly. Hope this helps :]
