Obama used his last day in office to help transgender immigrants

http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2017/01/26/obama-used-his-last-day-in-office-to-help-transgender-immigrants/

Pink News/By Benjamin Butterworth 26th January 2017, 10:48 AM

"President Obama used his final full day in office to issue a memo helping transgender immigrants.
The news has only just come to light, as the 44th president's final acts come into force.

Obama issued a memo to the US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) to change the rules for transgender immigrants."

Goodness I miss that man!  That story and the one to follow it on Pink News are just some of the irrefutable reasons this President will have a human rights legacy to be proud of.

Meanwhile, as the alternative facts are sorted out, we prepare for the invasion of Chicago by the National Guard and a series of new Marches on Washington DC by Pride groups, scientists and a growing list of resistors.  Activism is apparently not just for women.

Political theater lives!

Just want to acknowledge you Mina and welcome you aboard the Place.

My wife and I had been together for 40 years when I started transition but marriage equality did not exist then.  My partner was reasonably concerned that our marriage could be challenged or even annulled by the State as we were both legally female.  Progressive policy may be wanting for some time?

I trust you will find some interesting reading here and hope you feel welcome to share with us.

Such a great day i agree. However, it was actually the Supreme Court that effectively legalized same sex marriage by ruling in a case that all restrictions to it were a violation of the equal protection clause of the constitution. Our awesome President did however speak in support and celebrate it. The White House was bathed in rainbow light :)
