So basically the pharmacy i go to (walgreens) only gets one brand of estradial tablets and they are the coated oral ones that are meant to be swallowed and dont dissolve under the tongue quickly or easily and when i called and asked if they had or could order the uncoated kinds that can be taken sublingually they said they wouldnt. Now they must of used to of gotten a different brand in the past cause the old ones used to dissolve quickly under my tongue and didnt have the weird coating on them that makes them stay in a big gooey blob under my tongue... so ya anyways id love to go back to putting them under my tongue as i felt i was having better results with that and heard good things about it but when i try to put these under i'll wait for ten minutes and it still wont be fully dissolved...does anyone have any ideas on how to take these "coated" tablets sublingually or make them dissolve better?

   They sound like progynova. I used them and yes they do take awhile to fully dissolve. It did not bother me though. I waited until after eating when I wouldn't be doing anything other than talking to take mine.  drinking water wasn't even a problem as long as I kept my tongue down.
    If that won't work for you try putting between your cheek and gums either upper or lower whichever works best for you.

i know its supposed to be bio identical and generic estradial. It just says estradial and the pills are little green ovalish tablets.. im not sure that its progynova as i thought that wasnt bio identical or generic though i could be wrong

    No Anna what you have is not the same as what I was taking.  You are correct Progynova is not generic and the ones I had were round candy coated pills. 

The ones I just received today through the VA are generic, oval shaped, and blue. They do not look like they have a coating. I'll know tomorrow when I take the first one sublingually.

Progynova is a brand name for estradiol valerate which quickly gets hydrolised (broken down) into estradiol in the gut or blood. Hence, it is bio-identical and behaves exactly like estradiol.

Green tablet? That sounds like a sublingual for sure.

Just put it under the tongue and wait 5 minutes, trying not to move it. Saliva will break it down faster but then you'll most likely swallow some.

A method I'm going to ask about is transbuccal as opposed to sublingual. This method you put it up between your lip and your upper gum line on the back sides until it dissolves

ya it looks like the green one....but after five minutes its only dissolved slightly and is still a big green gooey blob under my tongue....after ten its no longer quite as held together and is usually spread out and liquified in saliva and looks like some has gone but its hard to know if it absorbed or if i swallowed it...i salivate a lot and even after ten minutes its not completely dissolved but does look very broken down and like some of it is gone....is any of it being sucked up sublingually or do you think im just inadvertently swallowing some? Is this having any better affect tha swallowing even thoughnot all is dissolving or should i just swallow? thoughts?

   The green one (looked more blue to me) is what I now have. Put one under my tongue and didn't worry about it. I did look about 15 minutes later and there was no sign of it. Didn't even notice any taste from it.

I also have the green oval ones. They do usually dissolve within 2 minutes.

My pharmacy is a bit odd, I get whatever they have in stock. When I picked up my meds the last time, they were short a few on Progesterone and when I came in the next day for the remaining ones, they looked completely different...

It can take a long time to dissolve if you do it properly. You want to keep saliva away from it as much as possible. There is a common mantra, if you taste it you waste it because that means you swallowed some and it went through the digestive track. Avoid moving it or checking it. It's there.

Just be patient... kept dry it can take up to 30 minutes to dissolve for maximum effectiveness.

To answer your last one - it is definitely better than swallowing especially for the liver

Personally, I noticed no difference when I swallowed or took my tablets sublingually.

I also tried sublingual and found that there was no difference or if there was one it was very very minimal. Sublingual does bypass the liver, but it doesn't seem to have an effect any better or worse than swallowing. I think swallowing and sublingual is a personal preference.

When I was doing oral E, do doubt they were coated. Time and patience. As you said, they do dissolve...eventually. I usually popped mine in just as I was leaving the house for the drive to work

Same ones I take. Beautiful little green ovals. My doc said take them sublingually. Be patient, they take between 10 and 20 minutes to fully dissolve. If you taste sweetness, it's not fully dissolved. I find drinking a glass of water before hand helps (like when I take my Spiro first).

Thought I'd revive this thread to mention my epiphany about taking pills sublingually, which is to jam them as far underneath as I can - I was just placing them under the tongue's mass and pressing down, which never worked.  Now I stick the pills way underneath, as far back as I can go on the side of the frenulum - that little fold of flesh that's attached the middle of the bottom.  This way they're isolated from moisture and take forever to dissolve, which is the idea.  I haven't really seen this mentioned elsewhere.
