Has anyone who's had FFS ended up with jowls?

I only had upper face (forehead + nose) and yet I'm now noticing some saggy skin around the jawline on both sides of my face.

I asked a friend about it and she said that she'd heard that it was a common side effect but when I asked my doctor (over email) he responded with that I didn't have any lower face done so there shouldn't be any changes there.

All I can think is that some changes to skin happened or cheeks being swollen or something befcause now I have these 2 areas of saggy skin on my jawline. Just so weird and was not expecting that at all.

I posted an update on my surgery thread but thought I'd share the jowls pic here too. The truth is it's not CRAZY noticable but it was not there before the surgery.

Yes...me. As I have gotten older and lost more weight, I have noticed that they are more pronounced.  So I am going in for a facelift later this year.  Basically a tune-up if you will.  I will be having some liposuction in that area as well as a chin implant.  Here is hoping for a younger and less saggy face!! :)

I had some jowling even before my FFS (it runs in the family, my mom has always had it from a young age too).  But now it's gotten worse 5 months post-op.  I didn't have anything done other than nose and forehead too (well, trachea shave also, but I'm not sure how that would affect it).

Without a doubt I look way better and more feminine than before my FFS, but I have to admit I'm disappointed this happened.  I'm not sure what I'm going to do about it.  Lately I've been feeling pretty down about my lack of curves in my hips and butt too.  But last weekend I saw my sister, and noticed that she doesn't have any more curves there than I do either.  So maybe I'm chasing an ideal that isn't realistic and should just be happy with what I have now...  I don't know.

Thanks for responding. Hope everything goes well there!

Thanks it's good to know I'm not alone in this. I have looked at some of the options .... just faintly. Face lift and bella fill. Both seem scary in their own way. yes chasing an ideal is for sure. Esp when it comes to age-related things instead of feminine-related. And gosh I just had surgery 3 months ago. It's silly to even be thinking about something more at this point.

I had extensive FFS with Dr. Spiegel. I had jowls before FFS. I did include a lower and mid face lift and blethoplasty to eliminate the jowls. When asked about my major concerns I said forehead, eyelets and above all the jowls. My jowls are much better but still there. I sent them pictures last month and they want more pics 2/28/2917. If the jowls are still there then he said the fat graphs failed and he will redo the fat graphs.

Have you lost or gained any weight since your surgery?

No, I was 125 lbs before surgery, and I'm still 125 lbs.  I'm in my late 30's and my weight hasn't changed that much throughout my life.

That could be fluid collecting from post op swelling, and may be absorbed n a couple of months. Does the lump feel like loose skin or is it firm? If it's loose it could be sagging skin, but your Doc would know for sure.

That would be nice if that's the case. It seems kinda loose though. When I smile, it goes away so I guess I gotta start walking around with a smile painted on 100% haha

Hi Raquel Lynn, I'm looking to have the same procedures you had. I wasn't sure it could all be done in one surgery, but I def need a mid and lower facelift and forehead contouring. If you don't mind my asking, how much did Sr S charge? Thanks for any info you would like to share.
