I'm 16 and I'm looking for steps on how to transition Male to Female I live in Ohio so if there's anything that'll help with transitioning I'd like to know. I'm glad for any information you can give me thanks. I've talked to my counselor about it and we're supposed to do some researching about it. And I'm certain that it's something I want to do.

If your goal is HRT, you would need to start with a therapy and get a referral from a licensed mental health professional. Your parents would also need to give consent for this if you are under 18 at the time of treatment.

If surgery is your goal, it's the same process as HRT. You would most likely need a referral from a mental health professional saying that surgery is an appropriate step for you and that you've met the criteria for surgery. Then you'd need to choose a surgeon and go.

Welcome to Susan's Place. The question is what do you need to do and were do you want to start. As you have therapy, you have taken the first step. Appearance and passing in public is the next and that could require facial hair removal, makeup, dress, mannerism and growing your hair out to a feminine cut. Possibly your mother can help you and sometime a female friend is willing to help as well. We have areas on the site for much of this and if you are having a problem, just ask and somebody will help you.

We issue to all new members the following links so you will best be able to use the web site.

Ok thanks and I already looked at all of the rules etc. thank you. But I haven't started therapy.. But I'm curious of places to go for it.. And I will try to follow all the rules. But It'll be a little harder cause I can't private message people yet. I won't use profanity or post any pictures. So most I shouldn't have a problem with most.

I don't like that it's not possible on the birth certificate though..

I do plan on surgery and all but how would I start it? Therapy and getting the referral then what?

That's literally it. You go to therapy, they give you a referral, you take it to a doctor, they give you surgery.

You can google "city name gender therapist" and you should get some hits. You can also google "city name LGBT" and you may fine a LGBT center near you and they may have a list of local doctors. If you have insurance, your insurance may be able to provide you with an in network therapist. And last but not least, if you have a doctor, your doctor may be able to refer you to a therapist. You should explain your goals to the therapist and find out what their requirements are before they will write letters. A letter for HRT should be available after a few sessions. Surgical letters normally come after you have lived full time for a year.

They pretty much gave you the basics. I just want to say goodluck and be strong... It will not be a walk in the park but learn to celebrate each milestone. You are luckier than most just the fact that you are in the US... The earlier you start to transition/ start hormones the better....take care!
