Unsure about chin change

Hi
So I have given some more thought about my chin, since a friend suggested (contrary to the surgeons so far, who all described the forehead as the most important FFS) that the chin is possibly my biggest issue. Now, I did get a virtual FFS simulation done and the chin did not change that much in it. Especially one of th emost annoying features of the chin did not go away with it, so I wonder if it can be fixed. I saw a few people having FFS with chin work and the chin is rounded afterwards, but I think it should be more tapered. Is it possible that a tapered chin is not always possible because the way the jaw is set? That would be my first question in this post.

The second would be , if anyone knows what can or might be done about the annoying thing about my chin that I was talking about. What I mean is that I have a strong horizontal groove between the lips and the lower chin. It is quite pronounced and in my eyes it always looks like the lower part of the chin - sort of a circular spot that tends to have quite uneven skin - is pushed up too much as if I had fallen on the chin once and it was pushed up. Maybe you can see it from the pictures I enclose. I considered filling that groove with fat grafts maybe, or , ideally, the lower part of the skin should "slide down" a bit in addition to taperin ghte whole chin. Is that possible?

Here is the frontal - original compared to a (admittedly not very well done) Photoshop impression I did

I think however, a shortening of the chin would also be good, but then the tapering does not work anymore so well in my attempts to simulate it...

And this is the side view

I could not do a proper simulation there - it all looked weird. I was thinking of something looking like her:

But I am not sure if that fits.

What do you think?

Greetings

Hi there I wouldn't change anything about your chin based on the picture. The horizon at line is kind of common and I don't see why you'd need it changed.

Your chin is fine.... I've researched about chin a lot and had my chin done 4x... Not to reduce but to add length and projection.... It's about balance and harmony... Ideally a female chin's projection is in line with the lower lip or a little behind the imaginary line, a male's chin projection ideally is beyond the lower lip.... There is also the 1/3 measure of the face which shld be close to equal 3rds - chin to nose base, nose base to brow and brow to forhead...the tip of d nose perpendicular line etc....i actually like d groove in ur chin but if it bother's u , u can have it filled with long lasting to permanent fillers like bellafill. If u want a more tapered chin you can do it with the newer pointier implants or d old button implants or bellafill to make it pointier but just a warning that a too pointy or too tapered chin can make you look older to witchy looking... The pointy chin v-line is ideal among asians to the point that some went overboard.....advancing genioplasty can accomplish any change u want on your chin but it is more invasive but unecessary in your case I think....Goodluck!

Well, I definitely do not like that horizontal like. So if nothing else, I will want to get it filled. The projection is good, I agree - in some pictures I already look "witchy" a bit if I smile in a certain way, so I do not want more projection, rather maybe a little less. The height of the chin is slightly too large for the 1/3 proportions of the face. I am not so sure why I dislike it so much in some ways - There is this round shape that I feel weird about. It is sort of uneven - has a hundred little dents in it and is often reddish . It kind of like to "pop upwards" towards the lip sometimes when moving my face. I somehow feel it would be nice if that would be a bit more smooth and more downwards... Not sure if that makes sense or is surgically possible. I guess it is some sort of soft tissue or cartilage which sits on the bones of the chin?

Hmm...all I see is a nice, normal chin. But maybe there is something a PS could do to make you feel better. I just don't see anything out of the ordinary. Good luck!

Haha - and now I feel awkward again, being so overly self critical...

I tried again in Photoshop to make a profile editing. I am sadly not that great in it...

Not sure how you'll take this, but I like the before pic (the current chin) better. 😊 Maybe you are just being a bit self critical here. Cuz to me it looks just fine. Hope you're ok with me saying that.

Yeah, I  do not know how to modify this with the Photoshop. I am not an expert there. I tried to send the pictures to VFFS, but it came out almost identical, with the conclusion a chin surgery is not really doing a lot of change and possibly not worth it

I can see it, anjaq.  While your chin is tapered, the fact it starts to curve up at the end creates a flat line at the bottom of your chin, which makes your mandible look a bit fuller; the line between your chin and lower lip creates a parallelism that slightly emphasizes it.

But I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's "squared," because the width of this line is still short enough that the overall effect doesn't tilt in the wrong direction.  It's not like this line is wider than your nose.  It's still a very subtle thing.  It is, however, something that could be addressed through a genioplasty.
What you look forward to has already come, but you do not recognize it.

Thanks, this is a good explanation of it!

What do you think should be done exactly with a surgery? So far, the surgeons only said "chin shave" or something like that - I am not sure what exactly can be done there and how I could request the change I want from a surgeon?

It's called a genioplasty, perhaps in this case a "sliding genioplasty." They can cut off the bone, reshape it, and reattach it to the mandible.  Imagine a wedge removed from behind and underneath the chin, so it can hinge downward.

Ah ok. Maybe I can ask specifically for this in an upcoming consultations. Thanks.

Which of the FFS surgeons are really good at this or is that something all will do equally good? Can Facialteam or van der Dussen do this well? What about Suporn? Or are the US surgeons better at this?

The dents,I have some too my doc said that botox can help with those he said it is from muscle contractions.... D redness v beam laser can help....I kinda like d before better maybe it's just me... Leighton Messter-ish kinda chin.... Look into Dr. Barry Eppley - USA he is an expert on chin stuff... Goodluck.

Hi,

It could be muscle and soft tissue that's creating that groove. I think that your photoshopped tapered chin looks better. IMO chin shaving would be appropriate and some surgeons like Dr. Speigel or Dr. Deschamps-Braly can reduce the muscle/soft tissue at the same time. If though, it's also the position of the bone that's causing that groove, then a sliding genioplasty would help. That groove though isn't necessarily a masculine feature, I don't think, though.

Actually, when I think about it, I like your chin regardless ;D

Thanks for the opinions. Yes I admit that the chin of mine is not a "big issue" - nothing in my face really is, it is more some littel things that taken together bug me.
So considering that it may be a soft tissue issue as well, I guess a good idea would be to get an X-Ray done of the chin and take it with me and then do another FFS consultation and specifically ask about this?

More data is always good. :)
