So after a long wait to get the referral HRT letter, and just a few weeks for the appointment, I'm finally seeing the endocrinologist tomorrow. Yea I'm very excited. Myquestion is what should I expect? This is Dr. Daniels at Washington University Medical. He only accept trans patients. He's a professor at the University and works at BJC hospital, so he's like the transgender expert in the region.

What's the initial appointment going to be like? Should I bring all my medical records as I have questions about myself, my bone structure,ect. Has anyone here seen him?

Ok maybe the most important question, will I just get a blood test order and have to come back before actually getting any RX for HRT?

Its hard for me to answer what happens as I am in a completely different country -and there may well be a lot of differences between the professionals anyway!-, but I absolutely had to do blood tests my first time seeing the endo. He asked lots of medical and other questions, checked my blood pressure and a few other things too.

As soon as the results of the blood stuff came back he mailed me my prescription for HRT stuff so I could go to my local pharmacy as soon as that happened and get them, only took about a week in total!

I am not in the same region (I'm Midwest), but can give you general info. You should feel free to ask your endo whatever - especially if they're the local expert.

My endo didn't do blood work for my first appointment. Her goal was to put me on estradiol first, get that to the desired level, and then bring down the testosterone.

I don't know what questions you have about bone structure, but your bones won't change.. if you're a teenager and still developing you might see some differences.

It couldn't hurt to have your medical records but the endos office would be able to tell you what's needed for your first visit.

Thanks for the responses. My question about my bones is really more of I'm some Intersex condition or not. I have CT scans of my lower abdominal area. According to my regular doctor my pelvis looks female. I've spent probably to much time researching bone markers used to sex skeletons by anthropologists. Every little marker seems to be present on my pelvic bones. I suppose only genetic testing would answer the question but insurance will definitely not pay for that. As it is I expect to spend months arguing with them about the endo and future HRT.  My insurance is out of Miss. Not exactly a accepting state for anything.
