Hi Erica :)
Yes fanny in Oz has the same (or one of the same) meanings as beaver in the States
Also ->-bleeped-<- in Oz can mean a cigarette - thou the other meaning is becoming more common.

Can remember while at school having a US poem about ( baseball I think) read to us. The phrase  "root for the home team" read to us by a nun was met by stunned disbelief followed by much mirth

That's funny Rana, after looking up what root means in Austrailia.  In that poem, the term root means to cheer, but maybe they had another meaning in mind after all.  ::)
