Hey I've been doing t shots for almost a year now in my thighs. Tonight every time I would barely puncture the first layer of skin, it would start bleed bleeding. Running down my leg kind of bleeding. I attempted to do my shot 6 times with the same result each time before I gave up for the night. This hasn't happened before. I do have the flu but I wouldn't think that would have any effect. Has anyone else experienced this?

Welcome to Susan's Place. I am on pills so I don't have the answer but somebody should be along shortly who may be able to answer your question. You might consider discussing this with your doctor as they may be more aware of issues that you might have.

I'm in E shots for about 3 months.  I have not experienced that, however do you always infect the same leg/area?  Can you do the other leg or at least come into the muscle from a different direction?

Does the bleeding stop quickly?

It depends where on the thigh. If I inject closer to the knee, there's a spot where I bleed like pig when I remove the needle. If I move a couple inches back, no issues, hardly any blood. Try another spot. What gauge of needle do you use?

After a year on shots in the thigh, you are probably developing scar tissue which would make it a little more difficult to inject in the same places over and over again. Switch legs every week and try to rotate where on the leg you're injecting. I keep a notebook that says the date of the shot, which leg I used, which position on the leg I used, and if anything weird happened. I basically have 5 spots on each leg I can use, so this week it's right leg spot 1, next week is left leg spot 1, week after that would be right leg spot 2, etc. It helps.

I've only ever had one instance where I couldn't get the needle in on the first go, and that was because I wasn't using enough force to get it in past the first few layers of skin. It was just a little pinprick of blood though. Not running down my leg style. Did you perchance try to inject with the needle you use to draw your T? I use two separate needles (one for drawing one for injecting) and I am positive there would be blood everywhere if I tried to inject with the one I use to draw because it's huge.

I'd say try again today on the opposite leg. Pick your spot, aim, and dart it in. Make sure you're using the right needle. You could also try icing your leg before to dull the pain of the needle initially breaking the skin.

I do alernate legs and I do it every 2 weeks. I use a 23 gage 1.5 inch. I did do it more outside of mid thigh this time and I haven't gone that far out before

I was a bit further out than normal this last time as well and I bled more. I think it was because I had to angle more to hit the muscle, rather than going straight in.
